The Chanel Hills Community was covered in the warm glow of the late afternoon, and the cozy tranquility of the neighborhood struck Don in a way he wasn't quite used to.

He sat for a moment in his car, the rhythmic **tick-tick** of the cooling engine filling the silence. His gaze drifted to the neatly manicured lawns and spotless sidewalks. It was quiet, the kind of quiet that felt curated—manufactured even.

'Back in my old neighborhood, you'd see kids running around,' he thought, a faint smirk appearing. 'Here, it's always the middle-aged fitness moms. Guess that's its own kind of charm.'
