Wendy keeps feeling like something is off with her colleagues so she tells Kate about it, Kate thought she was just overthinking it and maybe Tony was just busier these days. She decided to go with Kate's idea because it just didn't make sense of people ignoring her for no reason, but that was the least of her worries at the moment because she had always dreaded
this time of the year which was when she had to get her regular checkup not because she was scared of needles or anything but because of the fear of finding out she was actually sick. Most of her father's relatives had died, including him, due to cancer which was hereditary. Not only was she afraid but her mother was even more afraid as she didn't want to lose another loved one especially to that monster of a sickness.
On getting to the hospital, she was told to wait because she arrived a little early for her appointment. As she waited she kept on thinking of her mom's worried voice on the phone as she told her that there was no need to follow her. Then a voice cuts off her thought as she looks up to the person in front of her "You can go to the consultation room now" the nurse says to her "Oh, okay thanks" then she goes to the consultation room as asked. After doing her vitals, she gets taken to do some tests but at the end of the day she's walking out of the hospital with a whole lot of load off of her shoulders.
She gets to work for her shift but before going out of the changing room, she doesn't forget to call her mom and tell her that everything was fine. After doing that she goes to check on all her patients but as she turns a corner to the ward she spots Tony with bruised nose, worried, she walks up to him "what happened to you?" she asks him but he immediately turns his face the other way. "what's going on" she asks "nothing, I just fell down the stairs" he says "did you disinfect it?, how hard did you fall to be this injured?, does it hurt?" she frantically asks but he just brushes her off saying "no worries, I'm fine".
He then walks away from her but she follows him, "what's wrong with you these days" she asks, "what do you mean?" he asks in return "I'm just saying you seem to be sort of avoiding me" she says but he says nothing to that and then suddenly "would you like to go on a date!" he blurts out "wh—what" she stammers.
Kate keeps on thinking about her boyfriend even at work. She had told some of her friend her relationship status and they kept on saying that Jake was a red flag and that she should break up with him, they had even said that they saw this outcome but didn't just know how long she would hold on to him because she was always clingy in relationships. 'Am I really making the right decision by staying with him', 'would I be happy with him still?" she was thinking but the call for her attention brought her out of thought as she continued to work.
After work she is outside her apartment building " if I don't do it now, I'll regret it tomorrow" she tells herself in her head, sighs and walks up the stairs. Instead of using the key to enter she decides to start setting boundaries from here so she rings the doorbell. He opens the door but doesn't even look at her so she just stays outside "now that you're back, I'm really hungry, make me something to eat" he says but receives no answer nor does he hear any sound indicating her activity so he looks up at her from where he's sitting "aren't you going to come in?". Once he says that she steps into the house and shuts the door. "we need to talk" she says " we always need to talk, can't we just go on like normal" he says and dismisses her then he stands up and goes to the room. A few minutes later he comes out dressed and turns to her "move back in before I come back" then leaves before she is able to say anything.
Frustrated she goes back to Wendy's but meets with Chris on the way. They end up walking together to Wendy's place, where she's staying at the moment, but as she gets there she realizes she locked the spare key Wendy had given to her in the house and Wendy was on her shift so she wouldn't be able to help her. Chris suggests that she stay at his place until Wendy comes back then she'll go back. She's reluctant for some time but accepts his offer anyway, thinking she had no other option.
