The next morning Kate wakes up in a place not to familiar but as soon as she opens her eyes completely she senses a scent that was rather familiar then all the memories from the night before rush in. Wasting no time at all she quickly grabs her belongings and sneaks out of the house unnoticed.
When she gets to Wendy's place she fixes herself up so that her friend doesn't suspect much as she knew Wendy would highly disapprove of what she had done. Ringing the doorbell and waiting, the door opens seconds later and Wendy is on the other side of the property. They both walk in "where were you?" Wendy asks "Just out" Kate replies. How could she be stupid enough to sleep at his house Kate thought to herself but Wendy didn't end her questions at that "did you go to see someone?" she asks "yeah, I'm going to get ready for work now" Kate says. In fact Wendy had seen Kate coming out of the house across the street this morning to which she believed belonged to Chris.
That same morning, Chris wakes up and realizes the person he had spent the night with was gone, he takes his phone to check for notifications but the phone is clear of any. So he decides to reach out first. He probably called about three times before he gave up, he had concluded that she had started avoiding him again but because this time the circumstances were worse the last time. He wasn't sure if she'd ever speak to him anymore.
The previous night kept replaying in Wendy's head which made it hard for her to concentrate, at first when she got home last night she just lay on her bed and thought about it, to be honest it wouldn't be so bad to go on a date with him, it wasn't like she disliked him or he was hard to get along with but the problem was that she still wasn't over her last relationship and that was something she didn't wish for anyone to find out not even her best friend Kate, she felt embarrassed at the fact that she missed someone like her ex.
This time it was her turn to avoid Tony, she still wouldn't be able to face him especially if he mentions their last conversation. It crazy how busy she is today though so she didn't fret too much about meeting him, that is until she got paired for the night shift with him. It had been a while since working with him but it was at the very least familiar. They barely talked at all as they worked unless it was about work.
When they were about to end their shift Tony had brought up the one thing subject she had been purposely avoiding. "so what about the date?" he asked her, she didn't answer for a while not because she didn't want to talk about it but merely because she was contemplating if it would be favorable to any of them. She knew that James was still harassing him and she wasn't sure she could really give him what he wanted so without turning to face him she said "can you handle it?", a confused look flashing across his face before he asks "handle what?", she turns around to face him but her eyes are levelled with his chest instead of his face, "the problems that come with going on the date" she replies him as she looks up into his eyes but he doesn't say anything and just looks at her she doesn't make it obvious that she's thinking of the fact that their faces are only 2cm away from each other but she just says "you know James and everything" he just smiles "are you worried about me?" he says, she shrugs and says "it won't feel very nice to be the cause of someone's pain" she turns back to pick up her stuff but before she leaves he holds her arm and says "I can handle it, I promise" she looks at him for a second trying to process that they had just agreed to going on a date "fine then Thursday at 7." She says and leaves.
Kate on the other hand has come to terms that she had cheated on her boyfriend 'but we aren't really dating, are we?' she asks herself she shrugs off the thought because now she's at her old apartment but not with the intention of talking, she's just going to pack the rest of her stuff and go. She had asked Wendy to give her 3 weeks to find somewhere to stay and Wendy had agreed. It was time she made it clear that they were over and needed to move on. She walks into the apartment building and climbs the stairs until she's standing in front of the door to their living space. She grabs the spare key from under the doormat, opens the door and walks in.
