Unmasking Alex

Lily didn't even flinch when the needle pierced her skin. She sat through the entire examination process without any pain, sadness, or even relief on her face.

It was as if whether she got better or not no longer mattered to her.

"Lily, let me take you to Bali for treatment," Alex said, helping her off one of the medical devices. His expression was serious, unwavering.

"Bali?" Lily looked at him in confusion. "Why would I need to go to Bali for treatment?"

Was it because the climate there could aid her recovery? Or was there another reason?

"It's for treatment, yes," Alex said, placing his hands gently on her shoulders. He leaned in slightly, his warm gaze locking onto hers. "But it's to heal something deeper—your heart."

His voice softened. "Do you even realize how much you worry me? You have the chance to live a normal life again, to leave behind the years of being bedridden. And yet… you don't seem happy at all."
