The air crackled with tension as Kael entered the grand coliseum accompanied by his guard. At the stairs, his guard was stopped from further proceeding into the building and Kael left him standing outside at attention.
The imposing structure, a testament to the empire's might, stood proud and silent, unlike the crowd of people who were outside. He made his way past the guards who bowed, his presence commanding respect.
He headed straight for the office of Lord Thomas, a seasoned statesman and with a sharp mind who was also a member of the council. He had been very good friends with Kael's father and the relationship between them had remained.
When the guard opened the door and Kael stepped in, Lord Thomas stood up greeted Kael with a sympathetic nod.
"It is so unfortunate what happened with your family," he said, his voice filled with genuine concern. "Such treachery is a blight on us all."
