Lady Miranda's children were not related by blood to her father, but he accepted them as his own. However, Amira was outcast by her father for a reason she knew of.
As they retired to the room given to them by the elder couples, Zyran left her to freshen up while he stepped out.
She walked down the stairs, intending to search for Zyran. As she descended the last flight, she heard something that caught her attention.
murmurs coming from the kitchen, she was going to ignore it but the mention of the name she heard earlier made her stop.
"How could you have mentioned her name in front of Zyran, you know the history between those two and how hard it was for him"
"Shush, quieten your voice, Leah. Don't let Zyran hear you," Mr Parker said.
"Don't mention Andrea in front of him again; you know of his painful past. Don't let him live through it again," Mrs Leah said.
Amira stood still, blinking in confusion. It seemed as though Zyran was hiding a lot of things.
First, it was Katia being mysterious with her words. Now, it was the Parker family. What was in Zyran's past that shouldn't be mentioned, which had everyone tip-toeing around him?
Lost in her thoughts, Amira turned on her heels and made her way back up the stairs
. As she reached the top where their room was, she made her way in, she pulled open the window and gazed out at the tranquil night, her mind adrift in a sea of questions.
The next day, Rian took Amira to a grand soiree. Stepping into the gathering, they were enveloped by the enchanting sound of music drifting off in a joyful tune, as both men and women glided on the dance floor.
"This is my friend Hathaway's soiree she's quite the fancy type. She holds this soiree once a year for the noble singles and some who are simply seeking connection. It is a gathering a lot of people wish to be in, you are fortunate to arrive at its peak," Rian said, her fan in her hand as she used it to wave at a lady who was having a chat at the side.
Amira was struck by the sight of a woman in a stunning deep crimson gown, exuding an effortless elegance that captivated everyone around her.
Numerous admirers vied for her attention, some holding gifts in an attempt to impress her.
"Let's go say hello," Rian suggested, gently pulling Amira forward as they made their way through the crowd.
"Good afternoon, Lady Hathaway. You look radiant today," Rian complimented the woman, who responded with a gracious smile.
"Ah, it's Rian and her charm once again," Lady Hathaway remarked, planting a kiss on the girl's cheek.
"Who do we have here at my gathering? I wasn't expecting you to bring a companion," Lady Hathaway inquired, casting a curious glance at Amira.
"This is Amira Zyran's wife" she introduced.
"Zyran's wife, is it the one I know or a different one?" Lady Hathaway said with her eyes filled with surprise.
"The same Zyran they arrived here in Chesterfield just yesterday, I am taking her around town so she meets our town folks," Rian explained.
"What a surprise, I wasn't expecting to meet Zyran wife in this lifetime; the cold man is truly blessed," Hathaway said.
"It's nice meeting you, Amira. I hope you enjoy your time in Chesterfield; I am glad to have you in my Soiree," Lady Hathaway said politely.
"Thank you, lady Hathaway I am enjoying your soirees so far," Amira said.
"That's good. Feel free to loosen up, you aren't in one of those royal chains here, everyone is equal," Lady Hathaway told her.
Amira smiled, even with all the flaws, lady Hathaway seemed kind and genuine.
Hathaway politely made her excuses and departed to welcome the newly arrived guests.
Rian also excused herself and made her way to greet her friend. Meanwhile, Amira casually picked up a glass of water from a passing tray and took a contemplative sip while observing the crowd.
As she looked around, a man's voice caught her attention as he approached her.
"Why are you all by yourself at this gathering?" the man asked, leaning casually on the table where she stood.
"I'm John Wick," he introduced himself. However, Amira seemed unfazed by him and went straight to the point in addressing him.
"I am not alone thanks for your concern," she said, excusing herself as she turned to face the other side.
"I don't believe that I have been watching you for a while and I haven't seen anyone accompany you, or are you too shy to admit it"
"Please stay back, sir I would not like to cause a scene," Amira told him.
"A scene, but why would there be a need for that? We could both enjoy the night with both of us, pleased in the morning," he said to her.
Amira glared at him disgusted she turned to walk away, he grab her wrist and pull her back.
"That isn't so modest to walk away from a gentleman you should accept a kind offer rather than being rude," he said.
