Chapter 37- final journey

Jonathan returned to their former place together, pushing open the door to find dust everywhere, making it seem like no one had lived there for a long time. The only signs of life were a few books scattered on the balcony's soft couch—nursing-related books, presumably left there by her.

He walked upstairs to the bedroom, which felt equally desolate, especially since all his belongings had been taken with him. Despite feeling down and not wanting to stay there, after pacing around the house, he decided to stay. After a quick shower to combat jet lag, he tried to catch up on sleep.

In reality, Clarisse had been living there all along. However, during Cesar Rollin Balas's critical illness, she and Maya had moved directly to the hospital, taking turns to accompany him on his final journey.
