Chapter 38- divorce?

Since she made that call to him, her speech has been strange and with different ends.

Clarisse's arm throbbed from his forceful grip, but she didn't utter a word. She stubbornly stared back at him, tears welling up in her eyes.

Since he couldn't forget that first love, since he had given her such a loveless marriage, she wished he would stop caring about her and giving her false hope! She would rather they parted ways in mutual hatred, sparing herself from too much pain. She didn't want him to hold onto any shred of kindness, only to suffer more when they eventually separated.

Jonathan, eyes blazing with anger, squeezed her delicate arm, almost wishing to crush it. Yet, as he saw the tears glistening in her eyes and noticed her slightly swollen belly, he finally snorted disdainfully and released her, though his gaze remained fixed on her with intensity.
