Chapter 15: Gandr

The next morning shirou woke up slightly sore which was a new feeling for him as well as proof of Taiga`s spartan training`s defects. Making his bed he rushes onto the lawn to do his morning routine.
While making breakfast shirou was humming a song and the knife on his necklace was swinging softly with his body. Shirou finished cooking and closed his circuits feeling the constant warmth on his skin disapitate.
Shirou swiftly gobbled up enough food to feed 2 adults a meal and left for school.

Shirou passed through the school gate while hearing grumblings of students who didn't wish to come to school this cold Monday morning. While walking he suddenly caught an intense smell of herbs or medication solvent.
He looked around to find the source but was unable to pinpoint it, concluding that it must have been the wind carrying that smell he went to his class.
Reaching his desk he sat beside Shinji who had his usual arrogant look and was talking to a girl about something.
Ignoring the disgust rising in him shirou smiled at Shinji and continued the class.

The lunch break bell rang and Shirou learnt that Shinji used to study abroad but came home to his family 3 weeks before shirou was admitted into the school. He had joined the school at that time and people kept his distance from him due to his arrogant temperament.
Then he learnt that Shinji had joined the archery club because he used to do it in his previous school so he would not accompany shirou to lunch.
Nodding his head and saying goodbye to Shinji,shirou left the classroom and went to the rooftop. Going to the rooftop the wind was blowing towards him, hence he smelled the same medicinal smell along with the dense smell of perfume that he smelled at the gate.
Walking onto the rooftop and closing the door shirou calmly walked towards his now usual spot to eat. Suddenly he noticed that there was another person on the roof.
It was the twin-tail girl that he sometimes saw but this time she was alone without her friends. She was standing calmly instead of eating her lunch and was looking at shirou pointedly.
She waited till shirou passed by her and she politely asked
"Why are you here?"
Confused by her question shirou asked while raising his brows
"To eat lunch of course."
This made the girl scrunch her brows and unable to maintain her elegant dementor. Angrily she asked
"Dont play word games with me and answer why are you trespassing in this area"
This confused shirou further and he considered whether this girl was mentally ill or something but ignored that and said
"Ok ok, don't be like that I am going back to class you can stay here."
As she heard this shirou felt a stinging sensation and reflectively put his hand inside his shirt. The girl`s hand glowed with a tattoo-like diagram making shirou conclude that it's magic circuits.
As the girl opened her circuits her face contorted in pain and the surrounding medical scent stung Shirou's nose. When she pointed her finger at shirou and opened her mouth, he jumped toward the left and the sound of a hammer echoed in his mind.
"Gandr!!" syllable left her mouth
And Shiro's right side had a red flash hit the concrete of the rooftop. Without thinking anything shirou flooded the knife with mana making its circuitry glow and the edge gain a translucent layer.
The stalemate with shirou pointing his knife towards the girl`s abdomen and she had her fingers pointed at shirou while supporting that hand with the other.
Shirou slowly felt his circuits heating up from the drain of mana and the girl in front of him had her face on the verge of tears but was looking at him with one-minded focus.
Breaking the silence she 1st said
"let's introduce ourselves 1st, I am Rin Tohsaka the family head of the Thosaka family. The second owner of Fuyuki City"
Hearing this the problem immediately clicked in Shirou`s head. So shirou simply said
"Shirou emiya son of kiritsugu emiya."
Listening to this Rin asked
"Then can you remove the mystic code and answer me why are you here without my knowledge?"
After she depowered her circuits shirou closed his and hung the necklace back onto his neck.
Then they talked about how Shirou's father was a mercenary hence they aren't bound to the magus association`s rule of family movement. Then rin asked
"The last time I saw you, there were no mana signatures around you so how do you have them now?"
Shirou explained
"My magic circuits were not opened at that time so I didn't have any residue."
Rin gasped in disbelief and said
"Your circuits weren't opened even when you are already this old! This is a waste of potential time to practise."
Shirou and Rin then talked about various topics and shirou explained how his father is now retired so they are living in fuyuki as their home. Seeing the sombrelook in Rin`s eyes when shirou asked why she was recently absent he skipped the topic.
They talked about mundane topics till the bell rang and they both had forgotten to eat lunch. Rin picked up her box and ran while shirou quickly stuffed some food into his face and rushed back to class.
Reaching the class faced with the questioning look shirou just smiled and said nothing. Looking at this Shinji mouthed "What can be expected of you" and turned around.
School passed by without worry and shirou went home.

At home, shirou quickly changed and went to the kitchen. Just as he had finished the preparation of snacks, the doorbell rang.
After greeting Taiga shirou followed her into the dojo where she gave him a white martial arts robe to change into.
After changing shirou was ruthlessly trained by Taiga till kiritsugu came to call her for her lessons. A tired shirou then packed her bag and cleaned up the dojo.
After placing her bag near the entrance shirou went into the bedroom to practise mage craft and fell asleep doing that.

The next morning shirou talked about Rin to his dad which made kiritsugu frown as he thought
After Kiritsugu`s positive reply shirou was happy to have someone with whom he can talk to without reservations.
For the rest of the week, Shirou's life fell into a routine.
He woke up in the morning and did some exercise and body conditioning with his father. Then made breakfast and had a magecraft lesson with kiritsugu and went to school.
At school, he studied and went along with the antics of Shinji. Sometimes he talked to Rin on the rooftop and they quickly became friends after Rin verified with the clock tower.
She found out that kiritsugu used to be an infamous mercenary called "Magus Killer" but disappeared after taking a task from the Einzbern family. Confirming the retirement of kiritsugu as well as not sensing any bad intentions from shirou she quickly became his friend.
They talked about various things but tactically never breached the topic of mage craft.
At home, shirou was taught swordsmanship by the aptly named tiger of fuyuki, according to her shirou had a very high affinity as well as talent in swordsmanship. She said she can train shirou to her current level in 3 years.
Shirou became able to project deformed but sharp kitchen knives and he was able to deepen his understanding of objects through structural grasp.
Kiristgu said that next week the training equipment for marksmanship that he ordered would be received by him. Shirou was excited to learn about marksmanship as he wanted to fight like how kiritsugu fought Kenneth in the castle.
So the last week of school for the year ended and the remaining time was given as winter vacation.
The next day Mr. Raiga came to emiya residence to remind them to be ready by the morning of the next day for the festival.
The next day shirou woke up early and finished his workout as the pile of projected knives vanished.
He quickly went to prepare a large breakfast along with the help of kiritsugu. The emiya residence`s dining table was filled up by the emiya family and the Fujimura family.
Taiga sitting alongside shirou was eating while praising Shirou`s cooking and the 3 other men were talking and drinking sake after pouring it into cups.
After this sumptuous breakfast and cleaning plates, all of them sat in a large car and left for the festival.
