1: Disappointment?

It had been five months since his rebirth and he couldn't help but notice his mother's treatment towards him getting worse each day.

He felt he wasn't deficient or defective in any way, but the factors of the world in which he lived were one which he was yet to learn.

The months went by and he was almost a year old.

The negligence he got from his mother became more apparent but it wasn't enough to hinder him in any way.

" It's just a week before my visit to the Heaven Tower will be due. I wonder what class I'll get."

His very dreams ever since realizing the fantasy world which he now existed in.

It was a world bound by systems and everyone was granted a system once they became a year old after certain conditions were met.

There were different system classes with the dark class being the strongest and rarest as well; only one in ten thousand people each time period were able to achieve such a class.

It had been ten years since anyone received a dark class and there hadn't been any cases as well since his birth, which meant there was a chance that he could get lucky.

The weeks went by and it was finally the day for his awakening.

" Who knows? Maybe I'll finally get to see why she hates me so much."

Carried by his father, as he continued to gaze around the place, they were forced to wait behind many other people with their children also in their arms.

It was a long while before it was finally their turn to go in.

He felt nervous as he walked into the glistering white room. There was a platform in front of them as soon as they walked in and his father slowly walked towards it.

He was placed on the platform and watched as the platform slowly sank into the ground along with him.

A bright white light shone around him, blinding him as he went deeper into the ground; he sank deep enough and the system gifting process began soon after that.

His gaze went blank and darkness evaded his space; he saw nothing, nor could he feel anything until a screen appeared before him.

" It's finally here and I hope it's dark."

He was escalating with joy as he waited in anticipation of what would happen next; a plain white screen appeared before him and black prints were slowly written on it.

What lay before him was the greatest shock of his entire life; a classless system with the worst stats possible.

" What the hell is this?"

The specifications, his father, and other members of his family; the realization struck him hard and left him in deep contemplation of what was to become of him.

He was in a novel which he had written by himself titled, " Divine exorcist."

He had taken inspiration from his favorite anime, "Jujutsu Kaisen." And his favorite light novel, " World's Collision: Infinite Soul Essence."

It was a world ravaged by curses and humans granted systems of different classes and specifications to help them exorcise said curses.

Those who battled the curses were called, " exorcists." And helped cleanse the darkness that slowly encroached on the world.

Tears almost trailed down from his eyes as he stared at the screen one more time; he had waited so long for this moment and it ended in nothing but disappointment.

The platform slowly began rising once again and once he was on the surface, he held his head down and refused to look up again.

The man noticed his son's unusual behavior and slowly walked towards him; Nexus was usually cheerful and laughed no matter what happened to him.

" What's the matter?" He asked as he closed the gap between the both of them.

As soon as he heard those words, it felt like a lid had been opened inside him; he didn't care about this new world of his, but his life was something of key importance to him.

The tiers of a system were divided into five, determining the level restrictions of an exorcist a what kind of skills they could acquire.

Everyone could view another's system stats without permission if left unsecured but there was a milestone that had to be reached to attain said security.

This meant that at that moment, anyone could view his system and it wasn't the most appealing for his father who had come rushing towards him.

Tears filled his eyes as the man slowly lifted him up and placed him by his shoulders; he felt frustrated and it seemed that his childish instincts were finally starting to kick in.

When they returned home, there was a party already placed as they awaited another prodigy of the prestigious Mystic clan; it was his birthday as well and they were more than willing to honor it.

As soon they entered the room, his mother was standing by the door, awaiting their return. He was slowly handed over to the young woman as everyone waited for what great news awaited them.

"The results of his awakening shall be announced after the party is over." He said as he slowly turned towards his wife with a slightly forced smile on his face.

" No wonder she had such a disappointed look on her face that day." He thought as he slowly closed his eyes.

His new mother was an exorcist with a visual class system by the name of Olivia; a woman who could view into the soul contents of any living thing she looked at.

It was a cheat that allowed her to see the strength, weakness, and potential of whatever it was she made her target; a talent that earned her the interest of the Mystic clan's grandmaster.

She had seen nothing but weakness in Nexus when he was born and all hopes she heard in him were lost immediately after that, if only the same could be said for her love as a mother.

As expected, the party ended in complete disappointment and his mother treated him with negligence just like she always did; she left him alone in a room with a maid to look after him.

As he lay helplessly on the bed, a piece of paper and a pen that lay on the desk by his side instantly caught his attention.

He rolled down from the bed and slowly crawled towards it; the desk was his destination but getting on top of the chair was his greatest obstacle yet.

It was a long battle, but he was finally able to get on top of the chair.

He proceeded to pick up the pen and with his nimble hands throbbing at the grip of the object; he didn't want anyone to catch him during his action.

After looking around and ensuring that there was no one in the room to see him, he began writing on the piece of paper.

On the paper was everything he could remember about this dreadful world that he had created; his life was on the line if he couldn't find himself a golden finger soon.

He wrote everyone powerful character he knew and artifacts as well. What ones were accessible to him and what he had to do to get to them?

There was one last thing that popped into his head, an artifact lost to time and one that was as rare as his current condition.

"The system heart," an artifact that could allow him to link up with other systems and attain their classes as well as their stats.

If he played his cards right then his golden finger would be right at the tip of his fingers.
