Humanity's end?

The young swordsman couldn't help but smile bluntly at the creature's abrupt remark; everything up till then was suddenly uplifted from his soul and he found a new strength welling up inside him.

" What exactly makes you believe humanity's end is coming so soon?" He questioned, the grin still present on his face.

" Well, you're certainly cocky." The creature said, the loud cry of another person following after, " 'You actually think I'm playing. Every ounce of negative energy they're letting off is fed to me! It's the horrible nature of your human minds that gave forth to our kind."

" Now I would like us to play a game... For every attempt to kill me, one of them has to die in payment for your failures."

"[Flash step]"

Just as he mumbled those words slightly, afterimages of him quickly appeared around the parts of the room visible to the curse.

The curse watched as two afterimages appeared right in front of him with a sword slash and he stood still, knowing fully well that they were afterimages.

" The blinding lights of [Future sight's] release." He mumbled as he instantly appeared right before the curse.

He pulled it closer and looked into its eyes, blinding it for a moment with the bright blue glow that emitted for his eyes in that instant.

They were both engulfed by a white light immediately after that moment but something strange happened immediately after that.

[ Skill: Summoning; canceled.]

His eyes instantly widened as a slight gasp escaped his lips but that wasn't the end; the beast instantly exploded but he wasn't to catch any sight of its core.

" That wasn't the real one?" He mumbled under his breath.

" The real one? How about you tell me more about your battle with this curse."

He paused for a moment as he turned his gaze slowly towards his right to see the female figure now standing by his side.

He was shocked by her speed as much as he was by her aura; somehow she had managed to destroy the curse without him noticing and he couldn't deny the huge amount of foreign energy he was sensing from her.

The energy he was feeling was one he knew quite well, but hadn't grown accustomed to; she was a system defiance and possessed within her a foreign innate energy different from what typical exorcists used.

" I see, so you're not registered under the state's bureau of exorcists..." She said, slowly reaching out her hand towards him, " I'm Xiao Mei, a pleasure to meet you."

" A foreign migrator and part of the bureau of exorcists? The fact that she's here on her own must mean that she's a high-ranking member and quite a strong one at that." He thought, slowly looking over at her masked face.

Trying to outrun her was completely out of the question and so was manifestation; she was able to stop his summoning before it even began and she could cancel out his mystic energy at any time if she wanted.

He was standing before a freaking beast of nature and it appeared that his days of running around was on its way to an abrupt end.

" Please sir, may I have your name?"

" It's Alex Zerby."

Currently sitting alone before a young blonde-haired lady with fair yellow skin, Alex; the young swordsman was currently being questioned on his involvement in the recent incident concerning a curse attack and the death of a few.

" And what was your age?"

" Fourteen." He said slowly, his gaze towards the floor.

" You may leave now." She said, noting down the last word he just said.

With that, he slowly walked out of the room and into the hallway where two guards dressed in black instantly followed behind him.

It wasn't long before he ended up in the reception office once again and there were quite some people in there as well, including the families that had lost some of their members in the incident.

No one among them knew who he was anyway aside from the system defiance who caught him and the lady who had just gotten info on literally everything about him.

His life wasn't ruined but it was on its way to that moment; it was only a matter of time before an offer would be presented before him.

After a short while, more and more people began to leave the room but as expected, they wouldn't let him go.

After a while, they asked for another personal meeting with him which he willingly obliged to; he knew that they couldn't hold anything against him but either way, any objections he would make would be completely against his entire actions up to that point.

In a small room with nothing inside but a long table and a shelf to the right-hand side, a young man was seated with his elbows neatly placed at the long end of the table.

" It seems you've arrived Mr Alex." The young man said, slowly turning his head towards his direction.

He had a pair of sunglasses over his eyes and a cheeky smile that annoyed him more than ever but the sheer amount of energy coming from him sent shivers down his spine.

" Why am I here?" He asked, taking a seat at the other end of the table.

" Well, Sir Alex, how would you consider joining the exorcist defense bureau? A talent like yours should be made good use of in the field one day."

*Huff* *huff*

Nexus continued to breathe heavily as he knelt down on the ground.

" Just a little more and I'll be there." He mumbled, gripping tight onto the shovel he was holding.

With that, he stood up and continued forward. The clan's landmass was far larger than he had first imagined; it turned was quite close to the exit while some parts of it had yet to be refined.

He had a backpack strapped to his back and soon as he arrived at his desired location, took it off and began digging as fast as he could.

He could feel the energy from his backpack growing stronger as he inched deeper into the ground, prompting his eyes to widen in joy; the treasure he had sought for so long was finally for grasp.

The shovel made contact with the crystal hard artifact not long after that and it wasn't long either before he finally uprooted it from the ground.

It glittered with a bright red glow and it shone even brighter as soon as he brought it closer to his backpack.

He brought out the crystal from his bag and quickly merged it with the one he now had, resulting in an exuberant glow.

The moment he placed them together and that great glow was released, the heart took a course he wasn't expecting.

It began to quickly break into pieces and every ounce of energy it gave began to force its way into him.

At first, it was a great feeling of pleasure; one that made him edge greatly but his body couldn't handle all of the excess energy that was surging into him.

His muffled slowly turned into groans and went on to become grunts before loud screams began to uncontrollably escape from his lips.

Veins began to pop out from every part of his body and it was clear that he was going to explode into mystic energy if something wasn't done soon.
