23: Truth To Be Told.

*" A decision has been made official by the council."*

*" Such foul beings should not be allowed to live!"*

*" He crossed into the otherworldly realm to dabble with the races there — an act that shouldn't be forgiven!"*

*"Banish him!"*

*"Kill him!"*

*" He should not be allowed to live!"*

*********

*According to the laws granted to us by the heavenly planes, Astorath has been proven guilty of transcending realms, extracting divine knowledge, teaching our profound knowledge to lesser beings, and opening up gates to other realms.*

*According to the grounds that have been laid before me, his deserved punishment is death but he is one of the few among us who has managed to attain the heavenly real... realms of cultivation.*

*Thus he has achieved immortality and will therefore be sentenced to a more fitting punishment — a bound to the eternal flames of hell.*

*Yes, kill him!"*

*Kill him!*...

*Huff* *huff*

Nexus panted heavily as he awoke from the great nightmare he just had.

Everything seemed vague and he couldn't make sense of anything he had seen; none of them had any significant accounts of his life and so didn't make any sense.

"Astorath? Why the hell do I feel like I know that name from somewhere?" He mumbled with a grunt as he quickly placed his right hand atop his head.

" Well, it seems to me that you've finally awoken Master Nexus." A familiar feminine voice came from the side, " I assume you had a good night's rest."

He gasped in shock as he quickly scurried as far away as he could from where the voice had come.

The voice was a little sudden for him and the way it sounded made his heart skip a beat. Although it was familiar, he couldn't help but feel a hint of darkness hidden within them.

His eyes were now fixed on the lady sitting by the side of the bed on which he was lying with a blank expression on her face.

The look she had only scared the boy even more for reasons only he could comprehend; the clan guardian was always finding ways to tease him or get him irritated but this time it was a mix of anger and sadness hidden behind an emotionless expression.

" Well... since you're not willing to talk, how about I begin speaking first?" She said, slowly leaning closer towards him, her fingertips aiming for his chest.

" What the hell is she trying to do?" He thought, backing further away from her.

He couldn't remember clearly what had brought him to his current location nor was he ready yet to think about it but his head would throb greatly in pain each time he tried to go into thought.

Just a little closer to him, she suddenly stopped advancing toward him and assumed her former position while still retaining the emotionless expression on her face.

" What's the last thing you remember doing?"

Nexus paused for a moment as soon as he heard the question; it had come as a great surprise that even he couldn't remember what he did last before coming there.

His lips began trembling as he thought of what it was but nothing seemed to come to mind; he couldn't remember how he had ended up on the bed.

She heaved a sigh and instantly vanished leaving him there to ponder endlessly.

He could sense the intense amounts of mystic energy swirling around and knew well that trying to escape was pointless at that point.

After vanishing, she appeared in a room. It was painted white and tiled with the same color, completely void of any materials or placements.

She slowly walked forward and opened the door before her, allowing for a clear view of the darkness that now awaited her entrance.

She took the stairs, taking each step slowly and carefully until she finally reached the floor which had another door.

It was only after she opened the door that she was finally able to get to her desired destination; a room illuminated with white bright lights and filled with nothing but pieces of written works of all kinds.

" Joe!" She called out as she continued walking forward.

Her eyes continued to dazzle through each of the books on the shelves but it seemed that there was an expectant glint in her eyes that never came.

" What in the world have I just done?" She thought, gritting her teeth slightly, " I should have known earlier and stopped him."

It seemed that Nexus's actions were still bothering so much that she would drift off in thought at each passing moment, only to called back to her senses she passed by any book that seemed special.

A few moments later, heavy footsteps began to resound throughout the average-sized room.

" You seek my presence."

A deep masculine voice came from the side as the broad-sized man slowly came into view.

He had pitch-dark hair and raven red colored eyes with a hint of gold in them just like that of his eldest son.

He had jade-white skin and broadened muscles that were very apparent even under the tight-fitting black shirt he was wearing along with a pair of black trousers.

" Yes, I did. Now listen Joseph, we need to talk, IMMEDIATELY."

*********

Back at the station, the tension in the room was only becoming more intense as the boy sat opposite the young man.

He covered his eyes with a pair of sunglasses and heard an unusual smile on his face with raven black hair and glimmering yellow skin.

" Well, Sir Alex, how would you consider joining the exorcist defense bureau? A talent like yours should be made good use of in the field one day."

He took a minute or so to look through the offer being presented before giving an answer.

There weren't many disadvantages on his part since he didn't have much to sacrifice on his part either.

" I accept your offer. I'll join the state's bureau of exorcists."
