"Ding, ding, ding, ding!
A rapid alarm bell broke the quiet of the morning, Sebastian Cole sleepily reached out to turn off the mobile phone ringtone.
He squinted at the almost dark sky through the narrow, worn window.
With a deep sigh, he suddenly sat up in bed and dressed himself quickly.
Began to look in the mirror some haggard own simple cleaning, cheap clothes and deep dark circles under the eyes, but also good features handsome, the whole barely said past.
Without much care, he grabbed a piece of dry rye bread bought at a discount from the table, grabbed a backpack packed in advance, and hurried out of the door.
Life in Germany had been going on for six years, ever since the outbreak of the plague caused his father's trading company in America to go bankrupt because of global blockages and stranded goods.
He was sent here to escape his creditors, and his dream of studying business at Cambridge University and inheriting the family business was dashed.
Today is Saturday, and some of the Germans refuse to work on weekends, so the restaurant where Sebastian usually works is not open.
But luckily, Sebastian found a good part-time job, accompanying the university astrophysics professor, to Norway to collect some auroral data.
Few minutes later, Sebastian sweating, hurried to the physics school next to the building.
In the distance, old Professor Franz was already waiting downstairs, and Sebastian hurriedly called out to him.
"My dear Professor Franz, how are you? I hope I haven't kept you waiting!"
The old professor glanced at Sebastian's thick black eye circles and nodded slightly.
"Thank you for your concern, Sebastian. Your dark circles are too heavy. Pay attention to rest."
Sebastian had to maintain his studies by working and studying, and naturally had to sacrifice his rest time.
However, Sebastian had little contact with Professor Franz, and only learned roughly from his classmates that he was a more traditional German, tall and upright in character.
So he can't say much, only polite response.
"Of course, thanks for asking. When are we going?"
Professor Franz glanced at his watch.
"It's almost time. Let's go."
On this trip, only Professor Franz and Sebastian two people, Sebastian's main job is to carry and assemble experimental instruments, and assist in recording data.
Sebastian hurriedly carried the experimental instruments already prepared from the physics school building to Professor Franz's pickup truck, and then climbed into the passenger seat.
With the roar of the pickup engine, the two men left Germany and headed for Norway.
Sebastian asked while admiring the scenery outside the window.
"Professor Franz, what characteristics of the aurora are we observing this time? As far as I know, there have been countless papers published and discussed the various properties of auroras for hundreds of years, both in scribbled papers and in genuine scientific research, and it is difficult to find new discoveries."
Professor Franz nodded, looking serious.
"Well, that's why I went in such a hurry. The aurora in Norway has recently shown some unexplained changes."
At this point, Professor Franz took a look at Sebastian's mobile phone, which was playing a streaming video.
"See you like watching videos, you should have noticed the recent strange phenomenon in Norway?"
"Recently there was a huge shadow in the aurora."
Smell speech, Sebastian agreed with the nod.
"There seems to be such news, but it has not attracted much attention, after all, it has not had any impact on the lives of ordinary people."
...
All the way without words, the pickup truck was driving on the spacious highway, and Sebastian leaned on the seat and looked at the scenery outside the window in a daze, and his thoughts seemed to return to that night.
The father hurriedly opened the door and entered, his face pale, and said to Sebastian gravely.
"We have to leave, it's not safe anymore. You'll have to take refuge in Europe, and I'll contact you when everything's settled." Father's voice was deep and firm.
Early the next morning, Sebastian was put on a flight to Europe, leaving his homeland and family behind.
Six years later, he has not been able to contact his father and family, they seem to disappear into thin air.
Thinking about it, Sebastian, who was already in a daze and about to fall asleep, suddenly heard an electronic sound without emotional ups and downs.
