It's a Magical Day

Sophia POV

The guys finished with their clandestine smoke break and headed over to me with Da leading the way. He kissed my cheek and said, "Alright lass we're ready when you are. How do you want to do this, are you driving or riding with your ol' Da?" I chuckled at him but looked at Opie when I said, "Actually I was wondering if you wouldn't mind bringing your kids with us? They will be perfectly safe I promise." Opie looked at me with silent questions written all over his face before he said, "Why do you want to bring my kids." I took a deep breath before I said, "Well because they are magical children. Your son is almost to schooling age, so I thought we could bring them and set up some things to make life easier later." Da and Opie both looked at me with their mouths open in shock at my revelation, which of course sent me into a giggle fit. Da was the first to recover and joined me in amusement although his chuckle was quieter than mine.

Opie finally came around and said, "What do you mean my kids are magical?" I smiled at Opie and said, "It's exactly what I said, you or their mother probably have a squib ancestor or 2 which resulted in your children developing their magical core. A lot of recent research has proven that muggles just don't have magical children. The magic is kind of dormant in a squib for various reason mostly due to inbreeding so when their is enough foreign genetic material is introduced the magic will start to resurface in their descendants." Da was shocked by that probably because he has been out of the loop for so long and Opie well he was looking a little like a man downing while trying to hold onto any rope he can grab onto. Taking pity on the man I said, "Look it's not a death sentence the magical world isn't all scary wars it's actually been pretty peaceful since the last war. We do still have the occasional dark wizard but other than that its great. I can help you navigate being the parent to magical children, I have one myself after all. We will help you I promise you are not alone in this. Added fun fact the U.S. is way more accepting of people and 'new blood' than the British communities so that's a plus right there." I had a cheeky smile on my face as I finished my monolog. Da just chuckled at me and Opie let out an exasperated sigh before he said, "I don't want Clay to know anything about my kids at least not yet." He looked straight at Da when he said this Da just nodded in agreeance.

"So are we off to pick up some kids or what?" I asked to which Opie nodded. I turned to get into my car when Opie reached for my keys as Da got on his bike. I looked at Opie for a second before he said, "I'll drive you get in." I raised an eyebrow and said, "But it's my car." Opie chuckled and said, "I know that but I drove my bike today and it won't fit all of us so I'll drive." I gave up arguing over who was going to drive we were going to pick up his kids I get the need to be in control so I moved to get in the passenger seat. We made it to the school with Da following right behind us Opie got out to go get this kids while Da and I stayed outside. It wasn't long before Opie came out with his kids one on each arm, his little girl almost clinging to him brought a small smile to my face. When he reached the car he said,"Soph this is my son Kenny and my daughter Ellie, kids this is Chibs' daughter Sophia."

Kenny looked at me then said, "Hi, it's nice to meet you." I just smiled at him and said, "It's nice to meet you as well young man. You know I have a son your age as well maybe you could hang out together once he gets here." He nodded at me with a smile on his face, Ellie was quiet through the whole conversation, when Kenny and I finished talking she finally said, "Hi, your really pretty, nothing like Uncle Chibs." Da looked offended but I could see the humor I'm his eyes so I winked at him and said, "I think I got all my looks from my Ma so thank you sweet girl." She chuckled at me before we all got in the car with Da following on his bike.

The drive didn't take us long and was surprisingly peaceful due to the kids falling asleep not long after we set off. Once there we parked just outside of the entrance to the magical district. We got out of the car and woke the kids, Opie picked Ellie up while Kenny walked beside him. I looked at them all and smiled before I said, "Alright men give me your hands." Da chuckled when Opie asked "What for?" I giggled and said, "Well there is a charm placed around the entrance to repel non-magical and unaccompanied minor magical children. So I need to hold your hands so you can enter. You have a choice you can hold my hand or my Da's what will it be gentlemen." I held out my hands for them to decide Kenny took my hand with no hesitation. Opie look between Da and me as if he was actually considering holding Da's hand before he took my hand in his. Da led the way to the entrance since he was here with me not to long ago. Opie looked tense while the kids looked excited to be on an adventure.
