Sophia POV
'I absolutely love children.' I thought as I finally processed the words Ellie had just said after we left Gringotts. Even Opie was having trouble fighting off the grin that was slowly pulling the corners of his mouth up. Da just stood there shocked with his jaw almost reaching the table. I finally lost is when Kenny who had been quiet this whole time said, "So is someone gonna answer Ellie cause I kinda want to know the answer to her question as well?" With that I was done I couldn't help it, I started laughing in the middle of the market right outside of Gringotts. Da snapped out of his daze in time to glare at me which sent me into another fit of giggles. This triggered Opie an he joined me in my depravity.
I finally managed to calm down enough to look at Ellie and say, "I'm sure my Da wouldn't mind ya calling him grandpa little one. My son Teddy will be calling him Grandpa as well what's one or two more wee one's." Da finally just smiled and shook his head resigning himself to the fate for being a grandpa. I smiled back at him and said, "Now that all the boring stuff is out of the way...why don't we get our shopping trip started?"
Ellie threw her hands up in the air and said, "Let's get this party started!" Then she turned to meet Opie's gaze put on her best puppy dog eyes and said, "Can I get a new dress and a toy Daddy?" I could see the reluctance to deny her on Opie face but he looked resigned when he said, "I can probably swing a new toy for you and your brother to share but not both. Sorry sweetheart money is a little tight right now." I looked at Opie and saw a man trying to keep his kids happy and struggling to stay afloat. I respect his will to not just survive but his drive to thrive and provide for those he cares for. So I placed a hand on Opie's shoulder and said, "How about you let you Daddy buy you both a new toy and I will buy Princess Ellie a new dress from her new Aunty Sophia, if it's alright with your Dad?"
Opie looked at me shocked, maybe borderline embarrassed and hurt. I just squeezed his shoulder where my hand rested and waited for his answer. I saw and heard him swallow nervously before he said, "I think that sounds like a good deal. What do you say to Aunt Sophia, Ellie?" Ellie cheered before she said, "Yay, thank you Aunty Sophia." I just smiled and nodded at her before I kneeled in front of Kenny and said, "Don't think I forgot about you young man. I will get you one thing you want as well, within reason of course and with your Dad's approval." Kenny looked excited at the news but was much more subdued outwardly than his sister.
I looked at Opie and said, "You have some great kids here Opie." He smiled at me and said, "I do don't I?" I chuckled and shook my head before taking Kenny by the hand to explore the market. Da led the way while Opie trailed behind with Ellie still in his arms. We found our way to a amulet and enchanted accessory shop, the witch behind the counter was a plump older woman with laugh lines and kind eyes. She walked up to us, smiled and said, "How can I help you today? Is there anything specific that you are looking for?" Da look at the shop witch and said, "I need some amulets that will work for our muggle family members. My daughter finally got the paperwork in place that allows us to buy them for their protection, so we thought we would look around. Also these two little tikes are magical and Kenny here is just coming up on his 11th birthday so we thought we could get him a head start and maybe and enchanted necklace or bracelet to keep him safe while he is away." The shop witch looked at us appraisingly before she said, "Well I have some more masculine looking bracelets over there for the young man and some necklaces that could work for either gender over on that display over by the back counter. As for no-maj friendly amulets I have a few in different options though most of them come as rings due to the enchantments needed to keep them functioning off of ambient magic in the surroundings. They work better for squibs though due to them emitting a small amount of magic themselves."
After she finished talking Kenny practically dragged me over to the section with the men's bracelets and was reading all of the different enchantments that each on had. After some back and forth with his father and myself he finally settled on a dragon hide arm cuff with a large buckle closure that had runes engraved on it and coted in a goblin silver this caused the runes to function better due to the ambient magic in the silver and to quote Kenny 'It just looks cooler like that.' Opie and I just rolled our eyes at the rambunctious boy and moved on to pick out something for Ellie. She pointed her father in the direction she wanted to go like a princess on a mission to which I chuckled at her as Opie obeyed like the devoted steed he was. She picked out a necklace that had a delicate filigree surrounding a moonstone that had a gold overlay of a butterfly. Both were charmed to protect against the elements as well as potions (love/poison) they also had a small occlumency shield charm as well. Ellie loved her new necklace and Opie couldn't stop thanking Da for his gift to his new grandkids. This got a grimace from Da and a chuckle from me and the kids cause we could tell even though Da pretended to not like the title with Opie he would smile down at the kids and even more so at me when he thought no one was looking.
