Chapter 7

  The girls had come over to my place three hours earlier so we'd get ready for the dance together, but before that time comes we'd have fun and chat and stuffs like that.

"So, what's first?" I asked.

"First, is you Kyra, tonight you have one mission and that's make Jackson the most jealous he has ever been" Skylar said.

"You have to make him regret not asking you to the party" Talia said.

"And how do you expect me to do that?"

"With Verin of course, like we said, Verin is the perfect guy to make Jackson jealous" Alex said.

"And since Jackson already has a thought that you two are dating he'd be more jealous at seeing him as your date" Talia added.

"What if I don't wanna do this?"

"Then you're just gonna make yourself seem like you're easy to get and that's not good" Skylar said.

"Fine"

  The girls had so many theories and so many things for me to do that at some point I started getting confused.

"So since Verin is like really cute they're gonna be a lot of girls wanting to talk to him"

"Kiss him–on the cheek, once or twice"

"Smile a lot, laugh and make jokes a lot too"

"Just talk with him like you would on a normal day since you two are like best friends already"

"Make sure Jackson is looking at you"

"Have Verin hold your waist and hug you, the way he did in that picture we showed you were he wrapped his arms around your waist and put his head on your shoulder, you know"

"Make him smile too, don't let him focus on any other girl but you"

"Try to do something that'll definitely make Jackson jealous"

"Okay!?" The three of them said simultaneously and I just smiled and nodded.

  We had a pillow fight before we started getting ready for the party. I went into the bathroom to take a shower last cause I knew I'd take the most time. 30 minutes later when I came out of the bathroom they all turned to me.

"45 minutes in the bathroom, you haven't changed" Talia said.

"32 minutes Talia" Alex corrected her.

"Whatever" Talia said and I chuckled at her silliness. As I put on my black pantyhose, short tights, tube top with spaghetti straps and black socks.

Talia was going as Harley Quinn. Alex was going as an air force soldier. Skylar was going as a pirate.

As we all got ready, we took our time in doing so as to not make any mistakes. I put on my dress and asked Alex to help zip it up from the back. After I had put on my shoes there was a knock on my door before my personal bodyguard, Dean walked in.

"There's someone here for you, Third Miss" he said.

"Let them in" I said and when I turned away and then turned back to the door as I heard it shut I saw Verin standing there, dressed in white button up shirt, black monkey jacket, trousers and a black blazer with shoulder tassels hung over his shoulders, on his feet he has worn black Chelsea boots and his hair was brushed back and he had a crown on his head.

"There's my king" I said smiling at him.

"You mean your prince?" He said walking up to me and standing right in front of me.

"You're my king" I said tracing my hand over his chest.

"So you're my queen then?" He said putting his hand on my waist.

"Call me whatever you want" I said putting my hand on his shoulder.

"Are you guys always this flirty with each other?" Talia asked.

"And are still best friends?" Skylar continued. Verin and I let go of each other and chuckled at them.

"Yes" I answered.

"No, you guys have to date" Alex said.

"Uhmm, I don't think Kyra and I see each other that way" Verin said looking at me and I nodded in agreement. I mean, Verin was an astonishing looking guy but I don't see him as anything more.

"You're serious?" Skylar asked and we both nodded.

"That's amazing though" Talia said.

"Come on, let's go" I said.

"Uhm, your wings and your horns" Alex reminded me.

"Oh, you're right" I said, I picked up my horns on the table and just as I was about to put them on Verin took them from me an put them on my head then looked into my eyes with a smile.

"Thank you" I told him.

"Now let's go" he said.

"I'll get my bodyguards to take my wings" we went downstairs and saw Elsa and mum there who took countless pictures of us before we left. The four of us got into our different cars, Verin and I got into mine and my driver drove us to the school. On our way there I could see Verin didn't look very comfortable.

"You alright?"

"Uhm, yeah, yeah I am"

"You sure?" I said moving closer to him.

"No"

"What's the problem?"

"I'm just worried...I mean, I'm going to be in a school with the children of millionaires and self made millionaires kids and I just feel...overwhelmed" he said.

"So you don't wanna go? It's fine if you don't wanna I can just stay with the girls I don't mind and I know they won't either" I told him but deep down I was going to be very upset if he didn't go with me, not because of Jackson but because I knew I'd have more fun if he was with me.

"And have you embarrass yourself in front of your crush, no way" he smiled.

"But what if you get asked questions about who your parents are?" I asked him knowing those people at school would ask questions like that.

"My father is actually a politician in the state so I'd tell them that but if they ask about my mum I'd say she's sick that's all" he said and I smiled at him before hugging him.

"Thank you"

"It's alright, I just hope this guy you're crushing on his worth it" he chuckled.

"He definitely is" I told him.

  We got to the school and then my bodyguards helped me secure my wings on my back before we went in.

"Kyra looking as perfect as always" I heard a male voice say.

"Always stealing the spotlight" I heard the other male voice say. Dylan and Ryan, Jackson's friends and also band mates. The three of them formed the boy band Kiss that basically every teen girl loved and adored. And since that idea was struck about dating our crushes Alex and Ryan started dating while Talia and Dylan started dating but Skylar, Skylar started dating Thomas regardless of his sister, while I over here was still single waiting for her crush to break up with his girlfriend.

"Thanks you two" I smiled. Ryan came and leaned down close to me and whisper. "Rumor Has It that Jackson and Ashley might break up soon so please keep yourself available." Hearing him say that made me smile and I said back to him, only for his hearing. "Meet my best friend Ryan." He smiled back before we fist bumped and he walked ahead of me and Verin.

Ryan being the only one of Jackson's friends to know I have a crush on Jackson was great, Ryan gave me the best details about Jackson and it helped me so much. We were like comrades, we related and we're the stupid ones in our friend groups.

We followed the red carpet to the event hall. As we walked in my eyes instantly searched for Jackson and I found him standing in a corner with Taylor but then I looked away from him and walked closer to Verin.

"You're tryna get someone jealous I see?" He said and I nodded. We walked over to a corner and for some reason he stood extremely close to me, I wasn't complaining I loved his cologne.

"So where is he?"

"I'm not gonna tell you that, if he doesn't come up to me then you don't get to meet him." As if knowing what to do Verin immediately said he was going to get us drinks and just then Jackson walked up to me and I smiled, not at seeing him but at understanding what Verin did.

"Hey"

"Jackson, hey"

"You look amazing"

"You too, I mean, I'm digging the zombie basketball player" I said.

"I saw it in a movie and I just had to do it" he said with a smile.

"Well it suits you." Just then Verin walked back up to me and handed me a cup of juice and I took it with a smile. I looked at Verin who was looking at Jackson he blinked a few times before looking away then I looked at Jackson who had just glanced at Verin before actually looking at him then his gaze darkened.

"Uhm, thanks"

"You're welcome" he smiled. I looked back at Jackson who had now looked away from Verin and decided to introduce them because Jackson thought Verin was my boyfriend.

"Verin"

"Hmm"

"Jackson"

"Yeah"

"Great, Verin this is Jackson and Jackson this is Verin, my friend"

"Boyfriend"

"Friend"

"Friend Verin!"

"Fine friend..for now"

"Yeah right"

"Nice meeting you Jackson" Verin said.

"Nice meeting you too" was all Jackson said before he turned to leave.

"Jackson"

"I'll be right back" he said and kept on walking away.

"Did I over do it?" Verin asked and when I looked at him I knew he felt guilty.

"No, no you didn't, don't worry I know why he walked away"

"Why?" I sighed before telling Verin how Ashley had shown Jackson his picture and now Jackson thought he and I were dating.

"That means the dude likes you"

"We can't be so sure"

"It's obvious, he's jealous at the fact that he thinks you're dating me even while he's in a relationship, that's straight up being in love with you"

"Verin I don't think he does, I feel like he really likes this his girlfriend"

"But you said they fight a lot"

"Yeah and that's it but their fights never last long"

"That doesn't even matter"

"Fine, whatever." Jackson walked up to us again with a cup in his hand then he started talking with Verin. I didn't feel offended I was happy they were talking and I was also happy neither of them said anything too much, with every word that came out of their mouths I weighed it.

"Nice, you play basketball?" Jackson asked Verin giving him a fist bump in the process.

"I taught Kyra how to play" he said.

"That wasn't the question he asked was it?" I said.

"I mean, if you taught her then you should be better cause I'm better than her at the sport" Jackson said and it was true, I had joined the basketball team when I was in the 10th grade and Jackson who had joined 3 weeks after I had was always a competition for me.

"I'm better than she is" Verin said. Jackson asked Verin to follow him but I went along with them too. Jackson took him to the basketball court and got out a basketball for them to play with. Verin took off his crown and blazer before facing Jackson who was bouncing the ball. I took off my wings and sat on the bleachers. I watched the two play for a while but just as Verin was about to score another winning goal I quickly took off my shoes and ran for the ball taking it from Verin before scoring the goal for Jackson.

"If I can't beat him, no one can"

"Yes! Tie! It's a tie!" Jackson celebrated before panting heavily. "You weren't lying when you said you're better than her.

"Right here you know" I said.

"She's still learning though, she hasn't gotten some specific moves right so probably in no time she'd be better" Verin told Jackson and I smiled at that. I put on my shoes and we went back to the event hall. Jackson and Verin talked so much that at some point I saw Nova and left to talk to her and the two didn't even notice.

"Hey Nova"

"Hey, Kyra, you look amazing"

"Thanks you too" Nova was dressed as a butterfly. "Your wings are amazing, this art is beautiful"

"Thank you, my mum got the outfit for me" she told me and I smiled.

  We talked for a while before she had to leave to meet her date and when I turned back to Verin and Jackson they were still talking and laughing so I just went to a corner and sat there. I could still see them from where I was and watching them talk was beautiful.

A long while later I was still on my own, I had stopped watching them and was now reading a book on my phone before two people came and sat opposite me on each side.

"Why'd you leave?" Verin asked.

"You're just noticing I left?"

"No actually but we felt like you'd come back after we noticed you only went to talk to someone but then when we searched for you and didn't see you with her we had to find you and now we have" Jackson answered.

"Are you guys done talking?" I asked.

"No"

"Then continue"

"Anyways, I told you she was pretty" Jackson said and when I looked at him he was talking to Verin again.

"I know but I didn't expect her to be this pretty, I mean look at her" Verin suddenly raised my chin up and stared at me and when I looked at Jackson was staring at me too.

"Perfection" Jackson suddenly said.

"Out of this world" Verin said.

"Who could out shine that?"

"Is there anyone?" Verin asked. I looked between the two of them before shaking my head and facing my phone again, but Verin took my phone from my hand and leaned into my face.

"No phones tonight" he put my phone in his pocket before leaning into my ear.

"Play with us...we want your attention" I knew he whispered that so that Jackson would hear.

 The two teased me for a while before I finally decided to tease them too. It was what they wanted.

  After the party we all left and then Jackson pulled me to a corner where he held my hand in his with a smile on his face.

"What's with that smile?"

"Nothing, I had fun tonight"

"I mean, you basically spent no time with your date at all"

"She's the one that left me that was why I came to talk to you"

"I see, how interesting"

"Anyways, my driver would be waiting"

"Alright then" I said and smiled and he smiled right back.

"I don't know if I'm allowed to do this but..." He leaned into my face and then placed a kiss on my cheek before taking my hand and walking away with me. We went our separate ways and waved each other a goodbye before leaving.

  I got into the car with a smile on my face and Verin was already there.

"It was just a peck on the cheek calm down" he said without even looking at me.

"Whatever. So tell me what you think, is he worth it?"

"Not to me, no..." Was all he said.

"Oh." That kinda made me feel bad, I really cared about the things that Verin said especially about my preferences, so hearing him say that for some reason completely ruined my mood.

"I like his character though, never said anything about liking you, I liked that most, he kept it strictly normal and casual, I think I'd get along with him good when you two start dating"

"I thought you just said he wasn't worth it"

"When I saw it was Jackson I was highly disappointed cause I thought he was just playing you or something like that or he doesn't even like you and you're just wasting your time but he proved and showed he had interest in you even when he tried to hide it, work hard to get that guy Kyra, cause he's one in a billion" he said with a smile and that boosted my confidence.

When we got home I immediately changed out of my clothes and freshened up before having dinner, using my phone and going to bed.
