Chapter Thirty-Seven: The God of War

Cang Xuan did not head to the Lingxiao Palace first; instead, he made a beeline for the Yuling Palace.

Yuling Palace was situated in a remote location, requiring one to pass through the Wuhua Palace and travel a hundred miles, then navigate through layers of elegant courtyards and cross winding river bridges. Despite its remote location, Cang Xuan tirelessly traversed this path time and again.

The scenery along the way was extraordinarily beautiful, yet it failed to capture his attention. Of course, if this had been his first visit to the Heavenly Realm, he would have undoubtedly stopped to admire the view. But now, he had more important matters to attend to.

Cang Xuan was the son of the Dragon King of the Water Realm, known to people as the Dragon Crown Prince. He possessed immense strength, capable of shifting mountains and seas, and was revered as the God of War in the Water Realm. He prided himself on being the foremost God of War across the Four Seas and Eight Deserts.

However, whenever he asked others, "Who is the greatest God of War across the Four Seas and Eight Deserts?" The answer was always, "It's Jun Feng of the Heavenly Realm."

Cang Xuan was unconvinced. "Jun Feng? Where did this guy come from?" He repeatedly sent challenges to Jun Feng, seeking a duel, but was consistently refused. Eventually, Jun Feng either ignored him completely or directly threw him out of Yuling Palace.

Truth be told, no matter how Cang Xuan looked at Jun Feng, he did not resemble the cold-blooded, ruthless God of War described by others. Instead, he seemed more like a refined gentleman, with hands skilled at playing the zither rather than wielding weapons.

Despite his doubts, Jun Feng remained the acknowledged God of War in the eyes of the people. Therefore, Cang Xuan was determined to challenge him, to see if this so-called God of War was truly deserving of his title or not.

After crossing the winding river bridge, he finally reached Yuling Palace. With a cocky sneer, Cang Xuan declared, "Today, I'll force you to fight, Jun Feng!"

He took a bold step forward but was immediately repelled several steps back by an external force. Clutching his head and gritting his teeth, he cursed, "You little punk! It was one thing to throw me out before, but now you won't even let me in the door?"

He shouted into the palace, "Coward! Come out and face me if you've got the guts, stop hiding inside!"

...

Cang Xuan felt humiliated. If word got out that he, the Dragon Crown Prince, was denied entry, it would be a laughingstock.

"Hmph! I have important matters to attend to today, so I'll let this slide."

Unbeknownst to him, the palace was empty, a solitary courtyard devoid of anyone.

Meanwhile, Danjun followed behind the White Emperor, feeling utterly aggrieved. She hadn't wanted to come, but the White Emperor insisted, leaving her no choice.

All along the way, they encountered sneers, sarcastic remarks, and pointing fingers from others. She instinctively sought refuge behind him, only to be coldly pushed away.

"Stand up straight. No hiding and skulking around," the White Emperor reprimanded her sharply, adding to Danjun's sense of grievance.

"This isn't my fault. You made the decision about my marriage without even consulting me," she retorted. "And now look at the mess we're in! Isn't this embarrassing enough?"

"It's not entirely my fault. I agreed because I thought I was arranging a good match for you," the White Emperor replied. "Who knew things would turn out this way..."

"So what do we do now?"

"I'll speak to the Heavenly Emperor today. We can't just let this slide. After all, our daughter is our responsibility to care for," the White Emperor said.
