"Stay here and reflect on your actions. Wait until I call for you to get up!" These were the last words Master left before leaving.
But why hadn't his anger subsided even though it was already late at night?
Watching as the candlelight in Master's bedroom went out, she waited in vain for him to come out and call for her.
Could it be that Master forgot I was still outside?
Yunsi stared at the closed door, which showed no signs of opening. As minutes passed, she grew more anxious. Time slipped by, but there was no sign of Master coming out.
This was troublesome. Since Master hadn't come out and there was no sound inside, maybe he had already fallen into a deep sleep.
Yunsi collapsed against the wall, feeling boneless, as if she had seen a ghost, and flung the ruler in her hand a few meters away.
"Someday, I'll destroy you so I won't have to suffer punishment anymore." The thought of the ruler made her angry. She didn't know which mischievous little monk in the temple had given it to Master, but ever since its appearance, Yunsi had suffered greatly. Even if she made a mistake in copying scriptures or even a single word, she would be punished with the ruler. Over the past fifteen years, she had endured countless beatings, big and small.
"Rustle, rustle!"
Yunsi weakly pounded her legs, hearing the rustling sound. At first, she thought it was the wind rustling the leaves, but soon the sound grew louder and more chaotic, coming from all directions.
Suddenly, a wave of black smoke rushed towards Master's bedroom. Fortunately, Yunsi reacted quickly, picking up the ruler from the ground and immediately slashing it towards the black smoke.
The black smoke instantly dispersed into several clusters.
But then even more black smoke surged towards her, increasing in number and variety, transforming into various demonic forms. Some had snake bodies with human heads, some had green faces and fangs, some had tiger heads and human bodies, and so on.
The cluster of black smoke suppressing Yunsi transformed into a grotesque monster with a long nose and pointed mouth. It had a human body but also bore a pair of wings on its back, resembling an eagle if anything.
"Before the Buddha, you demons dare to be insolent!" Qingwu exclaimed, taking out a sachet from his pocket and throwing it, instantly expanding it to ten times its original size.
A strong wind blew, sucking in all the black smoke and the humanoid demons into the sachet.
The eagle demon holding Yunsi saw that things were going south and took advantage of the chaos to grab Yunsi and attempt to flee.
Unexpectedly, a melodious sound of a zither emanated from all directions. The eagle demon turned back abruptly and saw a figure sitting on the eaves of the house, playing the zither.
The zither's music was like a curse. As soon as the demons heard it, they experienced excruciating headaches, feeling as if each pluck of the zither string was cutting into their bodies, tearing their flesh apart and causing blood to flow out.
The eagle demon's blood dripped onto Yunsi's fair cheeks. Its face twisted in agony, bleeding from its seven orifices. It seemed intent on transferring its pain to Yunsi, its sharp claws piercing her skin...
"Ah~" Yunsi, who had been struggling, was suddenly gripped by the eagle demon's claws, losing all strength to resist. Her flailing hands dropped limply to her sides, swaying in the wind as if boneless.
"Yunsi!" Qingwu panicked, summoning a golden cudgel from the void and immediately thrusting it towards the eagle demon without hesitation.
At the same time, the person on the eaves of the house looked up slightly, furrowing their brows, murderous intent flashing in their eyes. They waved their hand and plucked the zither strings, sending out a blade of light in a lightning-fast motion.
Two forces simultaneously struck the eagle demon.
With a miserable cry, the eagle demon, along with the black smoke, dissipated into the air.
