Choosing a Date~
Yunsi crouched in the corner, watching the long queue outside the palace walls. At the front of the line, a prominent banner fluttered boldly in the wind, exuding arrogance.
Startled by the imposing scene, Yunsi quickly withdrew her head and attempted to flee, but fate had other plans. Just as she turned to run, Yulanxing caught her by the nape of her neck, pulling her back into his arms like an older brother would. He smiled gently and leaned in close, saying, "Since you're here, you might as well endure it a bit longer. Didn't we agree on this earlier?"
"Who agreed with you?" Yunsi pushed Yulanxing away with resentment, her eyes almost popping out. "Did you ever explicitly tell me it was me you wanted to come? If I knew it was about me, I definitely wouldn't have agreed."
"There's no other way. In my eyes, you're the most suitable candidate," Yulanxing stated firmly.
"Impossible! Absolutely not! I refuse! I can't do this without my master! What if I mess things up?!" Yunsi was on the verge of tears. If she were discovered here, it would be treason against the Emperor! She could lose her head!
She had never acted alone without her master by her side. Whenever there was danger, her master would always appear first. She had never ventured out alone before!
"No, I believe in you. Who are you? You're the first disciple of the renowned Master Qingwu. This trivial matter should be a breeze for you," Yulanxing said, his gaze unwavering. To Yunsi, she was the embodiment of Master Qingwu, possessing immense power and the admiration of countless people.
In that instant, Yunsi seemed to be possessed by the spirit of Master Qingwu herself. From panic and insecurity, she transformed into resolute determination. Looking into Yulanxing's eyes, she found strength and clenched her fists.
"I can do it!" Yunsi nodded firmly.
Taking a deep breath, Yunsi straightened her back, as though bearing the weight of a million expectations. She took the first step, then the second, the third, the fourth...
Just as she was about to summon the courage to take the next step, Yulanxing's heart sank. He had already mustered his emotions, but suddenly Yunsi stopped in her tracks, hesitated for a few seconds, then turned back with a mournful expression.
"Yulanxing, if I'm caught and the Emperor executes me, you must tell my master not to be sad. I won't be there to remind him to eat every day or to cause trouble. You must tell him that even though I'm gone, my heart will always be with him. When it's cold, he should remember to wear warm clothes; when it rains, he should remember to take an umbrella; if there's danger, he shouldn't rush into it; if he's injured, he should remember to apply medicine. Sob... I remember how my master used to get injured and never knew to apply medicine. If I hadn't found out, who knows how long he would have foolishly endured the pain. Sob... Master!"
And so, Yunsi cried and called out for her master amidst the sea of people...
Passersby cast looks of bewilderment at Yunsi, but she paid them no mind and only cried louder.
"Sob... Master..."
Unable to bear watching any longer, Yulanxing silently retreated into the corner.
"What's this?" Yunsi pulled out a neatly folded piece of paper from her sleeve and unfolded it. It turned out to be a self-recommendation letter prepared by Yulanxing early that morning.
She hadn't expected him to be so thoughtful.
