Chapter Sixty-Nine: The Deal

Yun Chuxue turned slightly and saw Yu Shi not far away. She smiled faintly. "As expected of the Grand Commander, you still managed to discover me."

Yu Shi's face was full of anger. After all, it was infuriating that someone had the audacity to secretly infiltrate the Spirit Master Palace on his territory.

Yun Chuxue leaped over a few rooftops and headed straight for the pavilion. She sat down naturally, and Yu Shi followed, sitting opposite her, his expression cold.

Yun Chuxue took out a bottle of wine and two cups from her spatial ring, poured the wine, and handed one to Yu Shi.

Seeing Yu Shi hesitate, she laughed lightly. "Drink up. I wouldn't go as far as to poison the wine."

Yu Shi drank it in one gulp, while Yun Chuxue sipped slowly.

"Who are you? Why were you spying on my son's house tonight? What are your intentions?"

"What does it have to do with you?"

Such an overbearing and unreasonable answer made Yu Shi even angrier.

"Alright, alright, I was just helping that poor girl a bit."

"A mysterious expert suddenly intrudes into my Spirit Master Palace, and it's just to help a girl? Your purpose can't be that simple," Yu Shi asked coldly, his grip tight, eyes filled with killing intent.

"What? You want to fight? I'm not afraid of you."

The two remained in a tense standoff for a long time, both having their reservations. Yun Chuxue finally broke the silence with a sentence.

"I'm here to see your daughter."

Such a casual statement made it hard for Yu Shi not to be suspicious. "Why do you want to see my daughter? Which empire's expert are you?"

"I like your daughter, so I came to see her. Also, from now on, if anyone dares to harm a single hair on her head, I will ensure they die without a proper burial."

Yun Chuxue's aura was imposing, especially with her last sentence, which was heavy with confidence.

"Are you Yun Chuxue?"

Yu Shi asked directly, having identified her based on her voice and usual behavior.

Yun Chuxue chuckled lightly. "So what if I am? Are you afraid I'll harm your daughter?"

"You can see her tomorrow, but not in the Spirit Master Palace."

Yun Chuxue was surprised, her grip tightening. Finally, she could see her daughter.

"I'm the one who killed your master. Aren't you worried about me?"

Despite her surprise at Yu Shi's reaction, she still had to ask.

"Tell me, what is your real purpose? It can't be just to see my daughter."

Yun Chuxue took out the Flaming Bow from her spatial ring. The bow, with its true flames, appeared before Yu Shi, who couldn't help but be shocked.

"This is the Flaming Bow, one of the Four Sacred Artifacts?"

"That's right. I'm just passing by here. My real purpose is to find the other three Sacred Artifacts in the other three great empires."

Yu Shi thought for a moment, touching the cup in his hand. Yun Chuxue, seeing him lost in thought, casually asked, "Where is Tang Mingyuan? I didn't see him when I arrived in Qingyun City. Is he busy?"

Tang Mingyuan, the head of the Tang clan, was previously a merchant and might have gone to other empires for business.

Yu Shi's answer left Yun Chuxue stunned.

"The Tang clan leader is dead."

"What?"

Yun Chuxue slapped the stone table, looking at Yu Shi in disbelief. "Are you sure about what you're saying?"

"He died over a year ago."

"Was there any clue? Who killed him? I remember Tang Mingyuan didn't have many enemies."

Yun Chuxue was certain. Except for the time he helped her, Tang Mingyuan generally didn't provoke other factions unless it involved the keys to the Sacred Artifacts, but she had to pretend she didn't know, or else her cover would be blown.

"The ones who attacked him were after the keys to the Sacred Artifacts. When I examined his body, I found that the injuries were not caused by any power on this continent, which means he was killed by someone practicing dark arts."

"Are you saying the Demon Cult killed him?"

Yun Chuxue was incredulous, holding back her grief. Tang Mingyuan had been kind to her, and she hadn't had the chance to repay him.

"The Demon Cult? More or less. Your definition isn't wrong."

"Do you have any leads?"

Yu Shi shook his head. "It's as if they vanished into thin air, leaving no trace."

Yun Chuxue gritted her teeth, vowing inwardly, "Demon Cult, I will ensure you die without a burial."

"Don't worry, I will avenge Tang Mingyuan. Once I find out who possesses the Sacred Artifacts, I will kill them." Yun Chuxue's eyes were fierce, filled with murderous intent.

"How will you find them among so many people?"

"I'll turn the world upside down if I have to. Someone will eventually show up to deal with me."

Yun Chuxue was clearly very confident.

"How about this: I'll help you find out exactly who has the Sacred Artifacts, and you just need to kill them."

"You would be so kind?"

"Why not?"

Yu Shi lifted his wine cup, gazing at her with a sinister smile. "You're just using me as a shield."

Yun Chuxue expected as much. "Isn't this just a transaction?"

Yun Chuxue snorted coldly. "I didn't expect you to have such a big heart, making deals with your long-time enemy, and so calmly at that."

Yu Shi chuckled, picked up the wine bottle, and poured himself another cup, drinking it all in one go. "We each get what we want. Once the Demon Cult matter is settled, we can deal with our own issues."

Yu Shi indeed had the demeanor of a king, able to endure when necessary and with a broad vision.

"Alright, I'll wait for you. When will you have the information for me?"

"Around a month or so."

"Moonlight Hotel. I'll be waiting for your message there," she said before leaving.

No one knew that as he watched Yun Chuxue's departing figure, Yu Shi's eyes were filled with longing.

The next day, in the VIP room on the top floor of Moonlight Hotel, Yun Chuxue was meditating when she sensed someone approaching. She got off the bed and sat at the table.

Creak~ The door opened, and a small, delicate child walked in. Her innocent eyes scanned the room as if looking for something. She took a few steps forward and then saw Yun Chuxue sitting there. Overjoyed, she ran over.

"Sister, I'm here."

Yun Chuxue turned her gaze to see Yu Zixi running over. Yun Chuxue quickly walked over, knelt down, and hugged her tightly.

"What's wrong? Did you miss me?"

"I did. I missed you, Sister."

Yu Zixi's simple words deeply touched Yun Chuxue's heart, and tears couldn't help but fall. She hurriedly wiped them away, then picked Yu Zixi up and sat her on the table, pouring her a cup of water.

"Here, have some water."

"Thank you, Sister."

After drinking, Yun Chuxue patted Yu Zixi's small head and asked, "Who brought you here?"

"My dad. He said someone very important wanted to see you. He had something to take care of, so he asked me to stay with you for a few days. Hehe, I knew it was you, Sister."

Busy? He probably went to deal with the Demon Cult in the Xiyun Empire.

"Are you hungry, Xixi?"

"No, I'm not..." Before she could finish her sentence, her stomach growled loudly. Embarrassed, Yu Zixi rubbed her head.

Yun Chuxue gently took Yu Zixi's little hand. "I'll get you something delicious in a bit."

Yun Chuxue then ordered the server to bring up a table full of good food.

Yun Chuxue personally fed Yu Zixi. Although she could eat by herself, Yun Chuxue enjoyed feeding her. After all, as a mother, who wouldn't want to feed their own child?

After the meal, Yu Zixi fell asleep, mumbling. Yun Chuxue sat by the bed, looking at her with a gratified smile, holding her little hand. Finally, mother and daughter could see each other.

"Hey, hey, hey, is this really your and Yu Shi's daughter?" came Moxi's questioning voice from within the spiritual sea.

"Yes."

"She is quite pretty, but because of you, she will only experience a very short period of motherly love."

"I'm an unfit mother."

What mother doesn't want to take care of their own child? But circumstances were against her; she had more important things to do.

"Our journey is long. Cherish the days you spend with her. I don't want to see you crying all the time. It disgusts me."

Although Moxi's words were harsh, it was clear she cared for Yun Chuxue.

While Yu Zixi slept soundly, Yun Chuxue quietly left the room.
