Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Cassius rough hand grasped her neck tightly. His eyes bore into hers, staring into her very soul. His muscular scent drifted into her nostrils, making her knees grew weak completely.

Swallowing hard, she tried to straighten her up but she felt like a log of wood. One wrong move and she knew she would be dead. He could kill her right here and no one would even care to know about her.

Her eyes were begging for release but she clenched her hand, furious that she was showing fear.

"You know I could strangle you right now and you'd die instantly," he glared at her.

She felt her heart sink with fear. Never in her life have she been this afraid. She'd never been this terrified in her whole life. She thought she had been preparing all this time for her death. She now realized she was not prepared to meet her death.

"P… please.." the word escaped from her lips.

"Really?" He tilted his head, mocking her. "I thought you were ready to die."

Just as she was about to open her mouth to speak, she heard footsteps echoing through the stairs. Cassius quickly released her and turned to face the person that arrived.

Anastasia and Lucas, held gaze with each other for a brief moment before turning around, and left to the room. Once she was inside, she collapsed on the sofa. Bringing her hand to place on her chest, she could feel her heart beating fast. Never ever would she attempt suck risky move without any help.

She saw Cassius walked the room, and she felt her heart skip again. He was going to kill her. Was he?

"Should I call you dumb or smart for thinking you could escape this tower?" He asked, his eyes narrowing at her.

She tried to remain composed. "I wasn't trying to escape. I was only going for a walk."

"A walk?" He scoffed. "You are not allowed to leave this place until you die, don't you understand?"

"I know but–"

"The people would kill you the moment they laid eyes on you," he said. "You are lucky I came in time."

Anastasia wasn't surprised to hear how much the people wanted her dead. To them, they see as their source of food. Maybe if she were a vampire, things would have been different, but she was also something else entirely.

Anastasia mind flashed back to what happened few months ago when she was returning from the market. Two vampires men had attacked and tried to molest her. The metal weapon and appeared in her hand and she felt overwhelmed with anger. She attacked the men and killed them.

Anastasia have tried asking her mother about the weapon. She wasn't experienced and often when it appears in her hand, she would be overwhelmed with rage. All that occupied her mind was to kill whoever was hurting her. It was only after the person was dead that she would realise what she had done.

Her mother had blamed her that night, forcing her to draf the bodies in the middle of forest and bury them herself. If she was caught by another vampire, they would have killed her.

"I would have sent guards to keep some flowers in your graveyard," he smirked.

She opened her mouth to speak, but her throat ran dry. She realised he was right; the people will kill her the minute they see her. She just needs to wait until Cassius is gone and Maggie would help her escape from here.

For now, she remained quiet, watching him.

"So what shall I do about you escaping here?" He asked, pondering his words.

After a moment, he raised his head to stare at her.

"What is it?" She asked.

"I will have to give you my blood," he stated. "That way I'll feel every of your emotions, especially you are acting mysterious. And if you try to escape I would know immediately."

Anastasia felt her heart sink with fear. Accepting his blood in her system, made her shiver. He would be alerted the minute she tried to escape from there.

"I don't want your blood," she declined.

"I wasn't asking for your opinion in this," he narrowed his eyes.

"What?" She quickly stood up from the sofa and took a step away from him. "Even though I owe you my life, I can still make decisions for myself."

"You either take my blood or die," he said, his eyes narrowing. He wasn't joking.

"I rather die," she swallowed hard, unsure of herself. Was she really ready to die?

"Really?" He tilted his head. "The last time I tried to kill you, you were trembling before me."

"Don't waste my time, Anastasia," he said. "I will be leaving from the Kingdom soon, and I don't want you escaping from here."

"I won't," she tried to convince him.

She was scared. She didn't want his blood in her system. He was going to use it to track her if she escaped from the tower. That would make matters worse for her.

"You either chose to die or take my blood," he said, his voice cold. "Just a small amount of my blood in your system will be enough."

"I already gave you my answer," she said, trying to stall more time, and distract him.

"And what is it?" He questioned.

"I rather die," she replied.

He stood up with no emotions on his face and he started walking towards her. Anastasia tried to escape but he pinned her to the wall. She wondered if her plan to escape this tower would work with his blood in her system.

Somehow, she had thought he was joking. But his expression was telling her a different story.

He grabbed her neck, sniffing in. "I can smell your fear. What are you afraid of? I thought you wanted to die?"

With the way her heart was pounding, she thought it was going to explode. She didn't know how to respond to him. She was torn between choosing to have his blood in her system or die.

And then all of a sudden, she saw his eyes bleed black. She was going to die soon!
