I closed the door behind me and let myself collapse onto the bed. I was exhausted and needed to forget that this day had ever happened. While lying down, I removed my boots and discarded my leather armor. Reaching for the curtains from where I lay, I closed them. Sura was already asleep in her bed, just a few meters away. Since our home had only one room, we had to share the same space.
I shut my eyes, my breathing becoming slower. I could feel sleep creeping over me, which was a welcome relief.
"Ugh…" I mumbled. "What a day."
I heard someone calling my name from afar, their voice barely audible. My vision was dark, but I could hear my way out. The waves, the birds chirping, the trees swaying in the wind behind me – I was near a shore. My feet touched the hot sand; it was probably early morning.
Slowly, my vision returned. The deep blue sea had waves, but they weren't moving, as if time had stopped.
"Hmm," I mumbled.
