He pushed himself up from his desk, pacing back and forth as he wrestled with his thoughts. He had always been loyal to the organization, to the cause of defending Earth from any threats. But he couldn't shake the feeling that Zane's interests had diverged from those of the organization, that he was pursuing his own agenda.

And then there was the matter of Lucas. Peter had been briefed on the alien and his team, and while he had initially seen them as a threat, he had come to realize that they were fighting against the very things Zane seemed to be aligning himself with—forces that sought to exploit and destroy rather than protect.

Peter paused, staring out the window at the city below. It was a difficult decision, but he knew what he had to do. He couldn't stand by and watch as Zane continued down this path.
