As they moved deeper into the cave, Jean suddenly stopped, placing two fingers on her temple.
"Hold on a second," she said, eyes unfocused.
Inside her mind, she heard Beast's voice through their telepathic link.
("This is Beast to the team. Shadowcat and I have located the main entrance. We've taken down two guards, but from what I can see, Magneto has way more security than we estimated—easily over thirty.")
Jean's expression tightened. ("Understood. Do you have a visual on Rogue?")
("Negative. But we do see a group of mutants guarding a separate door. It looks important—might lead somewhere deeper.")
Cyclops joined the conversation. ("We'll rendezvous with you in a few minutes.")
Beast responded quickly. ("Negative. It's faster if you keep going your way. I can already see multiple entrances leading into this base—every cave seems to eventually connect here.")
Jean processed the information before replying. ("Okay, good. Dragon and I are near the end of the cave. We'll see you in a bit.")
She blinked back to reality, seeing Aiden staring at her, waiting. Unlike the others, he wasn't connected to the mental link.
"Well?" he asked.
Jean nodded. "Beast and Shadowcat have found the enemy. According to Beast, if we keep moving, we'll reach them soon enough."
"Alright, cool. Let's get going then," Aiden said, rolling his shoulders.
The two increased their pace, dashing forward through the narrowing tunnel. As they approached the exit, Aiden moved ahead, his body dissolving into his own shadow. Using Shadow Dragon Slayer Magic, he slipped through the darkness, scouting ahead.
A moment later, his voice echoed from the cave's exit. "Come, there's no one here."
Jean followed quickly, emerging into the open—only to realize just how fortunate their positioning was.
The cave's exit was located at the top of the base, giving them a perfect vantage point. Below them, an enormous cavern stretched out, its ceiling held up by reinforced metal beams and natural rock formations. Bright industrial lights hung from the ceiling, illuminating the area.
The Brotherhood's hidden base was more massive than they had expected.
There were makeshift barracks, supply crates stacked against the walls, and walkways leading to different parts of the underground compound. In the center, a large open floor acted as a staging area, where several groups of mutants stood watch.
Jean narrowed her eyes, scanning the figures below.
"That's!.....John, Pyro," she whispered, pointing toward a lean, blonde-haired boy in a red jacket. He absentmindedly twirled a stream of fire between his fingers, grinning as he chatted with a few lower-level guards.
Aiden's jaw clenched. His eyes locked onto John, a flicker of something dark passing through them.
Jean continued scanning. "Over there— that's Blob."
A massive, overweight man stood with his arms crossed near the central supply area. His body seemed almost immovable, a mountain of sheer mass. "He has super durability and strength. He's very hard to knock down. so Be careful if you end up facing him"
Aiden barely acknowledged it. His eyes were still on John.
Then, Jean pointed toward another figure near the guarded door—a dark-skinned girl with curly brown hair, standing with her arms crossed. Small bits of molten rock flickered at her fingertips.
"Aiden.....Please stay Calm" spoke Jean as she realized he already saw her, the second Traitor "Amara" Aiden's bloodlust flared as he muttered her name, he looked back and forth between the two.
John and Amara.
His former friends.
Now standing as enemies....
Aiden's fingers twitched, his breath slow and controlled—but the moment he laid eyes on the two, something in him boiled. A dark aura flickered around his body for the briefest moment before he reeled it in.
Jean immediately picked up on it. "Aiden? Remember, Calm Stay Calm, this is Stealth Mission" she whispered, glancing at him.
He exhaled through his nose. "Tch.I know, Relax, It's nothing."
Jean wasn't convinced, but she didn't push.
Her gaze shifted again. "And over there, Someone we have to really be careful about—Quicksilver."
Aiden immediately locked onto a silver-haired blur, moving from one end of the base to another in an instant. Quicksilver barely seemed to be paying attention, his arms crossed, but the speed at which he moved was enough to put anyone on edge.
Jean sighed. "He's Magneto's son, and he's fast. If he gets serious, he'll be a problem."
She placed a hand on her temple again and sent out a mental message to the team. ("Dragon and I have eyes on the enemy. We're positioned above the base. We'll wait here until everyone's in place to coordinate the attack.")
With that, she turned to Aiden. "Now, we wait."
.....
After a few more minutes of waiting, the entire team had finally reached their designated entrances. The tension in the air was thick, the anticipation pressing against their chests like a growing weight.
Then, Beast's voice echoed in their minds.
("Remember, everyone, this is most likely not all of them. We attack together. You all have your targets, but stay alert—we don't know when Magneto is going to show his face.")
Immediately after, Professor Xavier's voice followed, his tone firm with warning.
("Whoever defeats their target, move quickly toward the door being guarded. Odds are, Rogue is there. But be careful. Magneto could be beyond that door, and you are all standing in a cave—made of metal. He could collapse everything in an instant.")
The gravity of the situation settled over the team. They had to act fast, precise, and without hesitation.
("Everyone ready?")
A collective nod.
("Attack.")
The moment the command was given—before anyone could even move—Aiden vanished.
And then—
CRACK!
John's head snapped back as Aiden's iron-coated fist smashed into his face. The force sent Pyro flying backward, tumbling across the rocky ground.
The battle had begun.
....
Meanwhile, deep within the base, Magneto sat in his chair, his fingers steepled as he watched the monitors before him. The various screens displayed the chaos unfolding outside—the X-Men launching their attack, the Brotherhood retaliating.
Behind him, a woman stepped forward. She was breathtakingly beautiful, with striking white hair and a pristine white outfit that accentuated her presence. Her piercing gaze locked onto the screens as she spoke.
"They're here. The attack has started."
Magneto didn't react immediately. Instead, he let a small smile play on his lips. "I see," he mused. "Just as you predicted, isn't that right, Emma?" He finally turned his head slightly, his gaze meeting Emma Frost's.
Emma smirked. "Of course. Charles may think he's unpredictable, but I always know what he's going to do."
Magneto chuckled softly before his expression turned cold. "Then it's time we get serious… but first, let's give the kid what he wants." His lips curled into a cruel grin. "Send in Juggernaut."
Emma let out a small, amused laugh. "Oh, this will be interesting," she purred. "Juggernaut has been screaming for weeks for vengeance. The kid did burn half his face, after all."
