Chapter 44

The dress fitted her perfectly. Twyla twirled and the stars whirled around her in a tornado of glitter. She wouldn't admit it to Bastian but she did a little dance of excitement. She felt beautiful.

She didn't put on the shoes until she was right at her door. And then she sat down first. They moulded around her feet. She stood up and took a few careful steps. The platform at the front gave her enough support. The dagger thin heel wasn't as unstable as it looked. They were perfectly crafted. She went down the stairs and realised that she wasn't sure where she was supposed to meet Bastian. Also, she didn't know what time sunrise was. She bit her lip, unsure. If she tried to find Bastian, there was a very high chance that she would get lost and they would miss sunrise. If she stayed here, she could be waiting a while. She really needed to ask Bastian for those orbs.
