The Dusk In Red

Kai along with Kurenai stood before a high quality wooden door with a small metal plate. Engraved on it was a number which read 046.

Kai held a paper ticket in his hands, which read the same number as he sighed heavily with great disappointment.

"And here I was thinking that we could pick roommates. I hope he isn't weird."

He put his hands on the door knob, and then opened it slowly. Once he entered, he was introduced to a mediocre sized room with 2 single beds, paired with their own furnishing and lamps. On the other bed was the same orange haired boy who started the climbing frenzy. He was busy picking his nose, oblivious to Kai's presence.

"Hey..?"

Upon hearing his voice, he jumped up wildly while shouting. The shock made him fall off his bed, and hit the floor on top of his head. He quickly recovered however and dashed up towards Kai.

"Why are you here???"

He showed him the ticket which had the room number.

"I was assigned here of course? Why else wouldn't I be here?"

"DAMMIT!, he screamed while crying. "And here I was hoping that I could get paired up with a cute girl..."

'I did get paired up with a weirdo after all...' Kai thought. "So whats your name anyway? Mines Kai Kureno."

"Just Ito."

His attention began to drift away as he started to lose interest in Kai, but then his eyes fell upon Kurenai by chance.

"Woah!? I've never seen a butterfly like that around here? Where did you find it?"

"It was around district 64. He's been with me ever since I got to this place."

"Its wings? They're red like the dusk of a setting sun. It's quite beautiful."

He slowly extended out his hands to try and touch Kurenai, but then Kai quickly slapped them out of the way.

"Don't get any funny ideas."

"Rude much."

Kai went to rest on his bed, and then took note of the modern looking phone which was on the cabinet. Excitedly he quickly picked it up and started browsing through it only to be met with disappointment. It came with a messaging feature along with software for orders, however that was locked. There was also an app for on-site usage. Other than that, it lacked features that a phone in the living world would have, like the internet.

He looked over and saw his own personal wardrobe, to which he realised that he brought no clothes to wear, aside from his Karakura high school uniform. Curiously he opened it up anyway just to be introduced to a line of outfits resembling the Shinigami Shihakushō although it was white and blue.

"That's the schools uniform.", Ito pointed out. "We are all going to be forced to wear that tomorrow so get comfortable now."

While checking out the clothes, his and Ito's phone both vibrated while turning on. He quickly picked it up and saw that he had received a message directly from the school.

It contained a packaged curriculum as well as their home room classes. Classes were assigned based on their performance in the entrance exams with 3 being the lowest and 1 being the highest.

"Class 1-3... and you?"

Ito eyes glowed with excitement and arrogance when he turned around and snarlingly said,

"Class 1-2, LOSER!"

"I'm going to kill you in your sleep."

Somewhere in the world

"A kingdom of brilliant light, built upon people with my blood, my foolish father who sacrificed everything for a world which doesn't acknowledge his suffering, and then the moon cutting sword which... killed me??"

The dark haired boy who emerged from his testing containers awoke in a dimly lit room filled with bloody beds. Unlike the others his was white and clean.

Sakugo who was busy reading their Xcution book had their back turned towards them while they read. Unlike before their hood was down which revealed long curly blonde hair with pink ends.

"Oh? So your awake?"

Sakugo turned around to see the once sleeping boy who was now conscious. Thanks to Sakugo becoming independent of her split off parts, her current body had finally fully sustained itself which allowed her to maintain her own form. Her once detail lacking face and pitch black skin had turned lighter. Her eyes from which only her star shaped pupils could be seen, now resembled something much more human, while keeping its original shape. Her sharp teeth still remained but now she had much softer lips paired with them.

"You were saying some pretty strange stuff while you were asleep. Dr. Tachibana did predict this I guess."

The boy grabbed his head due to a migraine, as he did memories of a man with a strange moustache flashed in his mind.

"These memories inside me aren't mine?? Yet I feel as if they belong to me?? Who am I?"

"You are a piece of me that was separated and given consciousness. If we remained as one then we all would've died. So the doctor separated us until he could figure out a way in which we could all live together."

The boy got up from the bed and walked over to a hanger. He pulled off a black coat before quickly putting it on.

"I'm out of here then. Tell that guy I am grateful for what he did, but I'm not interested in idling by until he barks an order at me."

Sakugo got up and tried to grab him by the shoulder.

"P5-1, Tachibana said that you shouldn't leave this room until he got back!"

He started to emit a frightening black aura which caused Sakugo to fall to her knees, paralysing her with fear. It was as if she were being starred at by hundreds of thousands of eyes, all silently gazing at her every possible move.

"My name is Yhwach? No... I guess I would prefer Albrecht until I can figure out whats happening with me."

With a wave of his hands, he opened a boundless portal made out of black sludge before entering it and disappearing quietly.

A few minutes later Dr. Tachibana would quickly entered the room and helped up Sakugo who was still collapsed on the floor. She was shivering so badly that her body had turned cold.

"Sakugo!? What did you see? What did he do? Tell me now!"

"Why... why did you even bother making those things conscious in the first place? What prompted you to make such a horrifying thing??"

Tachibana laughed while a smile expressing nothing but pure joy and bliss stretched across his face.

"Wouldn't things be more interesting this way? Having more rogue pieces on the chess board makes the game that much more exciting wouldn't it?? Besides, I already put a tracking device inside him. No matter where he goes I'll always be able to monitor him."

"Are the other two going to be like as this as well??"

Tachibana's smile turned into disappointment once he admitted, "The enzyme didn't work on them for whatever reason. I'll have to take my time to examine them further, but other than that, they won't be ready for another 9,999 years."

Sakugo stood back up on her two feet, and then asked.

"Father... I would like to go back down to the human world!"

"And why is that?"

"This feeling which I haven't felt before? It bothers me! And I feel as if it won't go away until I beat him down and drag him back here."

"That feeling is called humiliation. Maybe it's because you've become more human that you're staring to understand these things?"

He patted her head and then said,

"Feel free to go do whatever you think is right."

Sakugo quickly exited the room with a determined look of revenge. As she did, Tachibana contemplated to himself,

"I wonder which side is stronger... the Fullbringer or the Quincy?"
