Do You Want To Be A Hero? (2) | Morning News

Izuku, now dressed in his Aldera High School gakuran and with his small briefcase-like school bag in hand, descended to the first floor of his house.

As he went down, he could already smell the faint, delicious aroma of breakfast. He smiled, knowing that this enticing scent was coming from his mother's cooking, which he and his little sister always loved.

When he approached the source of the mouthwatering aroma, he found himself in the open living room space of his house. There, his mother sat on the couch with the TV on, broadcasting the day's news. She was on her smartphone, speaking in a professional tone to what he assumed was one of her company's employees.

She was already prim and proper, wearing her dark blue office formal suit that hugged her charming and mature figure as she spoke to her smartphone with an elegant and formal manner.

"Yes, please make sure the documents are ready for the meeting by 10 o'clock. And remember to double-check the figures in the financial report."

Her voice was stern and clear as she directed the person on the other end of the phone. Then she noticed Izuku entering the living room.

"Izuku! Hold on for a moment," she said, excusing herself to the person on the phone as she lowered the device. She then looked back at Izuku with a warm smile, greeting him, "Good morning, dear."

"Good morning, Mom~," Izuku greeted back with his own casual attitude. His laid-back demeanor earned another warm smile from his mother.

"I've already cooked breakfast, so enjoy it with Chisa, okay?" She gestured toward the nearby dining room that was connected to the living area. There, his little sister was already at the dining table, enjoying their mother's cooking.

"I still have some things to take care of, so go ahead and eat breakfast without waiting for me," she said before returning to her phone to resume her business conversation. "I apologize for the interruption; now—"

His mother continued her phone call as he turned toward the dining room table. There, he saw a complete Japanese breakfast set with its delicious smell at its strongest.

"Alright~," he exclaimed excitingly to himself as he promptly sat in the chair beside his little sister's. He then made a quick prayer with a cheerful tone, "itadakimasu!" before quickly digging into his breakfast with gusto.

He savored each bite of his breakfast with contentment. The aroma of miso soup and grilled fish filled the air... but a snippet of news coming from the living room TV caught his ears.

"...and the breaking news of the day! the Musutafu Police Department has successfully apprehended a notorious criminal responsible for a series of heinous kidnappings and disappearances that have plagued the city, including a failed attempt to abduct the first daughter of the No. 2 Pro-Hero, Endeavor. The dramatic arrest came just in time to prevent what could have been an even more sensational tragedy," the TV anchor's voice reported clearly.

Izuku's ears perked up as he chewed, his curiosity piqued. He directed his attention toward the large living room TV.

The broadcast cut to footage from last night, showing police vehicles and flashing lights in the middle of the night on Musutafu's urban streets. They had arrested, handcuffed, and brought the fog-villain into the police car... while a nearby ambulance and its medical staff attended to a particular bespectacled white-haired woman.

"That lady..." Izuku muttered to himself upon seeing the woman.

"Hmm?" Chisa, who was beside him, heard his muttering and was curious about what her brother was currently watching.

"The suspect, identified as Murogiri Kirihara, a middle-aged office worker with the quirk known as 'Fog,' was arrested last night." The anchor continued, beginning to detail all of the information pertaining to the suspect. "Kirihara, who had been operating under the cover of foggy nights—seemingly artificially created by his own quirk—was found to have imprisoned several missing women in the basement of his house."

"Reports suggest that he was involved in cult-like activities and had forced himself on them. He is also believed to be responsible for the disappearance and deaths of several missing men over the past month."

Izuku's brow raised a bit as he listened while continuing to eat his breakfast.

Now the TV showed a live broadcast of Musutafu's police headquarters. The No. 2 Hero, Endeavor, in his flaming hero costume, stood at the forefront. Behind him were a group of important figures, most likely the police chief and other high-ranking officials. The reporters, eager and relentless, bombarded him with questions.

A reporter's voice came through, tinged with urgency. "Endeavor, can you provide more details about the suspect and the situation involving your first daughter, Todoroki Fuyumi? How close was she to becoming one of the latest victims?"

Endeavor, his face stern and resolute, answered, "The police have handled the arrest. We are grateful for their swift action. As for my daughter, she was indeed targeted but fortunately escaped unharmed and is currently recovering from the shock."

Another reporter chimed in, "Who made the arrest of your daughter's would-be kidnapper? Was it a Pro-Hero on patrol? Was it the police? Or did you intervene personally due to your daughter's involvement?"

Endeavor's eyes narrowed slightly, his patience wearing thin. "The arrest was made by the brave police force. My role was to provide assistance and support where necessary."

Hearing this answer raised another eyebrow from Izuku... as his lips formed into a small smirk, seemingly finding it amusing.

Another reporter chimed in, but... their question was quite abrasive. "Endeavor! Why did it take so long for this criminal to be arrested? Why wasn't he apprehended sooner when the artificially created foggy weather and the disappearances started happening?"

Another one chimed in, supporting the previous reporter's inquiry. "Where was the Pro-Hero or the police force when these strange occurrences were happening? Did they not notice?"

The questions continued to pour in, shifting from serious inquiries to more personal matters.

"What about your second daughter? We've heard she will be attending UA University next semester. Can you comment on that?"

Endeavor's face hardened, clearly irritated by the sudden topic of his daughter. He threw an intense glare at the reporters, quickly shutting them all up. He then glanced back toward the high-ranking police officers behind him.

"I'll take my leave here....! Direct all further inquiries to the police department," he said sternly.

As Endeavor started to leave, the reporters surged forward but were quickly held back by a line of police officers.

The news anchor's voice returned, "We will keep you updated on the foggy night kidnapping case and provide further information on the press conference and the ongoing investigation. Moving on, we have a report of an increase in villains rampaging—" The news anchor continued to broadcast other news...

"Thank you for the meal." Chisa's voice could be heard as she thanked the food she had eaten. She stood up and took her dirty dishes to wash them near the open kitchen connected to the dining room and living room.

"UA... University...?" Meanwhile, Izuku echoed the word that the last live reporter had asked toward Endeavor, seemingly curious and pondering over it. He then turned his head toward Chisa whom was currently doing her dishes... and he finally realized something.

"Ah, yeah, I almost forgot!"
