I Needed Someone

'Huh, why does my chest feel so tight?'

Lex was awoken from his peaceful sleep due to something heavy pressing against his abdomen. He groggily rubbed his eyes but didn't open them.

"Ughhh, how long are you going to be asleep for, Lex?" an annoyed voice entered his ears.

'Voice? I live alone… wait, wait, WAIT A SECOND!'

The thing on his abdomen was slightly heavy yet soft. It didn't sting or hurt him. Realizing what was happening, Lex opened his eyes to confirm his suspicions.

"How could anyone sleep with a gorgeous woman sitting on top of them?" Rio pouted.

She was currently sitting on Lex's abdomen while her hands were placed on the bed to support her. Her clothing was similar to yesterday except that she now wore a pink shirt.

'Calm down, Lex. No need to get so excited after seeing your employer.'

Since it was early morning, Lex was currently facing some manly problems. He was trying his best to keep it under control.

Unfortunately, Rio's movements were not helping him. Whenever she moved on his chest, her boobs moved along with her body.

This was distracting for Lex.

'Elfie, you could have woken me up when she decided to sit on top of me.'

[ I also go inactive when you are sleeping so I had no idea this was happening. Don't expect me to be active when you are lazy yourself. ]

'Both of us are useless.'

[ I can't even argue with that… Also, why are you complaining? It's not everyday you get to wake up like this. ]

'I…'

Now that Lex thought about it, waking up in this manner wasn't bad. Mn n

"Now that you are awake, can you cook some breakfast? I am not in the mood to have instant noodles right now." Rio ordered.

Rio climbed down Lex's body and stood on the floor with a waiting expression. Lex sighed and stretched his body before sitting up straight.

"Just take me there." Lex sighed.

Rio immediately swept him into her arms and hurried to the kitchen. Lex found himself standing inside the kitchen in less than five seconds.

'I might as well get used to this hectic lifestyle I signed up for.'

Lex stretched his body one final time before he got to cooking.

'His body is now giving the aura of an ability user. Is he one of those high-level ability users who can keep their aura hidden? But it doesn't make sense for him to show his aura now.

Also, the aura seems to be fluctuating between low leveled to a level higher than my own. Is he just playing with me or what?'

Inside her room, Rio was trying to find out the motives behind Lex's presence.

Yesterday, she didn't feel any aura coming from Lex's body but things were different now. The moment Rio woke up, she sensed the aura of an ability user nearby.

This led her to Lex who was sleeping peacefully in a random.

Since she was a high level ability user, Rio could easily sense the appearance of Lex's aura.

'I will confront him after we are done eating. Can't let good food go to waste.'

Even if Lex was someone sent there by Allen, Rio was going to make sure to enjoy the food prepared by him before delivering his fate.

The importance of good tasting food can only be known by those struggling to survive on instant food…

'It has been so long since I have made a proper breakfast like this…' Lex patted himself on the back for preparing an amazing breakfast.

Lex and Rio were eating their food while sprawling on the sofas in the main hall.

"Lex, are you hiding your ability on purpose?" Rio questioned once she finished her meal.

"Hmm." Lex, who was still lost in the appreciation of his cooking, hummed in reply.

"Did Allen hire you to make my life more miserable?"

"Hmm."

"You aren't listening, are you?"

"Hmm."

"I know you were searching for my panties last night."

"Hmm."

[ Um, Lex, I think you should go back to reality. ] Elfie interjected before things got worse.

'But the food is so good. I just want to keep eating due to its amazing taste.' Lex protested, unaware of what was happening around him.

[ So you like it when you are called a panty thief? ]

'Wait what?' Lex jolted back to reality. His eyes stared at Rio's face who was trying her best not to smile and was failing miserably at it.

"Can you repeat what you just asked me?" Lex asked awkwardly.

"Nothing," Rio chuckled. "I will give you the benefit of the doubt for the time being. I am quite lonely so I want to have some hope. But remember, if you do anything funny, I will break your neck.

Rio picked up her plate and got up from the couch. She was about to teleport away when something grabbed the back of her shirt.

"You can't just leave after saying something like that." Lex held the hem of her shirt with his hand.

"Oh? And why is that?"

"Because you should listen to what I have to say in my defense."

"Then talk Lex. I will hear you."

"I want you to know that I awakened my ability last night and before that, I didn't have any ability. My knowledge on this topic is quite low since I never studied it."

Lex paused and stared at Rio's expressionless face.

[ Do you think she will believe you? ]

'I am not lying to her. I can't share any information about you with her but that doesn't mean I have to lie about my powers. Gaining Rio's trust is one of the main things I must do to get close to her.'

[ You are not lying to her but you are lying to me, Lex. She reminds you of your isolated self. Due to that reason, you want to help her. ]

Lex didn't reply to Elfie because he knew that she was speaking the truth. After learning that Rio lived her life in seclusion without any human connection, Lex was reminded of his own self.

"How do I know that you are telling the truth?" Rio asked with a poker face.

"Its up to you to believe me. I am telling the truth. The reason I refused Redrum's offer was because I needed someone to feel less lonely. You experienced the same thing as me and that's why I wanted to come here."

After Lex finished speaking, silence settled over the entire place. Lex patiently waited for Rio to reply.

A couple of minutes passed by before the later opened her mouth.

"You aren't wrong about that."

"Wrong about what?"

Like a snake attacking its prey, Rio shot forward and placed her right hand on Lex's chin. Her ocean blue eyes stared into his amethyst eyes.

"You are not wrong about the fact I was living in seclusion and loneliness. I needed someone to come here and become a real friend to me. And for that reason, I am going to be believe you. Don't make me regret it."
