Even from afar, as Felix walked towards the city he could feel his hair standing on its end with nervousness and anticipation.
From just what he was sensing, Felix was sure that he was going to meet the strongest individual in the Spirit Realm, that is other than Maria and Vivian.
It wasn't because of the rumours that Felix believed so, but because he could sense a haze of darkness covering the whole city. And that shadow wasn't something natural. It was kept there by someone.
Someone who was greatly proficient in the Dao of Shadows.
Once he was close to the city, Felix finally saw how big it was and how poor it was built and looked.
While the city itself was very huge, it didn't even have a proper wall around it and the roads were nothing more than mud which had been stepped on so much that it turned perfectly flat.
All in all, it looked like a poor village that had big buildings inside it.
Walking inside the city of indulgence, Felix saw how despite the city looking so poor, people were filling it to its max capacity.
At the same time, he saw women who were dressed in nothing more than underwear stand on both sides of the road as they invited men to enjoy their services.
Stunned at how the prostitutes were working out in broad daylight, without holding back at all, Felix saw that the quality of women got better as he went deeper inside the city.
Similarly, it wasn't just prostitution, there were all kinds of other shops as well. These included shops that sold healing pills, weapons, and so on.
But regardless of everything, the city was most famous for its exotic women. Since most men fighting in the war only cared about fucking a woman to relieve themselves of stress.
However, there were two special rules concerning the city.
One, it did not allow any kinds of fights between those who were visiting the city. Regardless of who they were or what reason it was for.
And two, there were no inns or hotels for the visitors to rest at. Because this city was built to earn profits, not to provide asylum to the losing side from the winning continent.
This was why regardless of who came in, they could only stay for twelve hours inside the city, and then leave on their own. That is if they don't want to be crippled and kicked out.
If anyone dared to stay more than twelve hours, all they would see was their own shadow swallowing them. After which they'd appear outside the city with a cripples dantian!
Therefore regardless of how tempting and pleasurable the city and all of its attractions were, everyone who entered would make sure to leave before the time limit was over.
After all, you could come back the next day and spend 12 more hours within it, so there was no reason to try and stay more than twelve hours in a single day.
Also, it wasn't as if they could stay here forever, since they'd need to return to their duties and fight in the war. If not they would be treated as deserters, and death was what would await them after being caught sooner or later.
The longer Felix watched how poor the infrastructure of the city was, the more he was curious to find the person who built this city.
And that desire only further intensified after he saw the huge house made of pure gold at the centre of the city, which was probably where the city's owner lived at.
A little surprised at how there wasn't a single guard around the golden house, and how there was at least a few thousand feet of distance from the house to the nearest building, Felix bore the strange glances as he crossed the imaginary boundary and stepped towards the golden house.
"Is he stupid?"
"Why?"
"Don't you know? Tsk, I guess you newbies don't know anything."
"Don't ask why, but remember this. Regardless of what happens, you are to never ever take a single step out of this place towards that building. Got it?"
Saying so the experienced man showed the invisible line which was made due to all buildings located the same distance away from the golden house.
"So what happens to those, like that boy who step out?"
Shaking his head, the man said with full of pity, "There's no need to ask. Just keep on looking."
Hearing him everyone looked at Felix curiously to see what would happen to him. Unfortunately, nothing happened even after he knocked on the golden door.
What happened next stunned everyone, as the door opened allowing Felix to go inside.
"Humph! What happened to all that crap about not even taking one step? If it wasn't for you I'd be the one who was visiting the city owner!"
Blaming no one in particular, the eager looking youngster rushed towards the golden house.
But unlike with what happened to Felix, the moment he took a single step out of the boundary, millions of thin spikes came out of his shadow and pierced every single part of his body.
Not even able to scream, the person who still didn't die could only bare with the pain which was worse than dying, while everyone else who had the same idea as him took a step back.
Just looking at how gruesome the youngster looked with so many spikes piercing his body, their wholes bodies were covered in cold sweat.
At the same time, they felt curious about Felix who was the first one ever who not only managed to go past the boundary, but inside the golden house as well!
