Chapter 398: Shisui's Body Flicker Jutsu

In a blur of movement, Shisui vanished from Guy's view.

"Where did you go?" Guy exclaimed, his voice tinged with both awe and confusion as his head whipped around, searching frantically for his opponent.

The tension crackled in the air as Guy's sharp instincts kicked in. He froze momentarily, feeling a cold chill snake down his spine. His body reacted before his mind caught up, forcing him into a forward roll just in time to evade the blade slicing through the air behind him.

Zheng!

Guy turned sharply, his eyes locking onto Shisui, who now stood with a short blade gleaming in his grasp.

"What terrifying speed…" Guy murmured, beads of sweat trickling down his temple.

He knew Shisui hadn't disappeared into thin air. The truth was far more alarming: Shisui had moved so fast that even Guy's finely honed reflexes couldn't keep up. It was an unsettling realization for someone as skilled in taijutsu as Guy.

Up in the stands, the spectators were dumbfounded. The duel that had seemed firmly in Guy's favor was now flipped on its head. Shisui's counterattack had nearly ended the battle in an instant.

"This is no ordinary Body Flicker technique," muttered Hiruzen Sarutobi, his eyes narrowing as he watched the scene unfold in his crystal ball. The years etched onto his face seemed to vanish as his sharp intellect dissected the fight.

Beside him, Minato Namikaze nodded with a faint smile. "Shisui has been developing this technique on his own. It's an advanced body flicker, customized to suit his strengths."

The Body Flicker Technique was well-known in the ninja world, a method of high-speed movement used by shinobi of sufficient skill. But there were those rare few who elevated the technique to an art form. The Yellow Flash of the Leaf, Minato himself, and the Raikage of Kumogakure were prime examples.

Shisui's version of the technique wasn't just a display of speed; it was a weapon in its own right.

"You managed to dodge my attack," Shisui acknowledged, his voice calm but tinged with surprise. Despite pouring his full strength into his trump card, Guy had evaded him.

Guy, still catching his breath, grinned in response. "I almost got taken out there." He shook his head, trying to dispel the lingering dread. "But I won't let you land another hit!"

Shisui's eyes flickered with resolve. Without a word, he lunged forward again, his movements a blur. This time, the spectators gasped as two Shisui figures appeared on either side of Guy.

"Shadow clones?" one of the Genin exclaimed. "But I didn't see him perform any hand seals!"

The audience buzzed with confusion, but Minato's sharp gaze told him the truth. These weren't shadow clones. The illusion of two Shisui was a product of sheer speed, a testament to the young Uchiha's mastery of the body flicker.

Guy, however, wasn't intimidated. "Dad… I'm going to use that!" he murmured under his breath. His expression hardened as veins bulged on his forehead, his chakra surging in response.

"Clank!"

Shisui's ghostly figures struck simultaneously, their blades descending with precision. But Guy moved with equal swiftness, meeting the attacks head-on.

Ding! Ding!

The sound of steel meeting fleshless resistance echoed in the arena. Shisui staggered back, his eyes widening in shock.

"His speed and strength… they've suddenly increased!"

Guy had opened the first of the Eight Gates, a technique taught to him by his father, the legendary Mighty Duy. Though the Open Gate granted immense power, it came at great physical cost. For Guy, barely nine years old, the strain was immense, but his determination burned brighter than his fatigue.

"That boy… Mighty Duy's son truly takes after him," Hiruzen murmured. His grip tightened slightly on the edge of his robes as he observed the fierce battle.

Minato's expression remained composed, though there was a flicker of concern in his azure eyes. "Duy may have passed on the Eight Gates technique, but teaching it to Guy at such a young age is bold, even for him."

The clash between Shisui and Guy intensified, their movements too fast for the average viewer to follow. The duel was no longer a mere Genin-level spar—it was a spectacle of skill and raw power that would have challenged even seasoned Chunin.

Ding, ding, ding!

The sound of relentless combat echoed through the arena. Every exchange left the audience on edge, their breaths caught in their throats. Shisui marveled at Guy's resilience, while Guy couldn't help but admire Shisui's precision.

In truth, Shisui's dual image wasn't a product of clones or genjutsu. The phenomenon stemmed from his lightning-fast movements, creating afterimages that confused even the sharpest eyes.

The fight stretched on, both combatants refusing to yield. Shisui's blade danced like a phantom, while Guy's fists struck with the force of a hurricane.

Finally, after several grueling minutes, both fighters leaped backward, their chests heaving with exhaustion. One of the Shisui figures flickered and disappeared, revealing that the boy had pushed his limits to the brink.

Guy, too, could barely stand. His beast-like aura faded, the strain of the Eight Gates taking its toll. Yet, despite their weariness, the fire in their eyes remained unbroken.

"Unbelievable…" one of the spectators whispered.

The Chunin referee stepped forward, surveying the scene. "Both fighters are unable to continue. The result of the match is a draw!"

As the announcement echoed across the arena, their teammates rushed forward to support them.

"Haha, I couldn't win," Shisui admitted with a faint smile as Obito helped him to his feet. His tone carried no bitterness, only respect for his opponent.

Guy, supported by his own team, grinned back. "You're not so bad yourself, Uchiha."

Despite their fatigue, neither harbored regrets. The match had pushed them both to their limits, a testament to their growth and determination.

Hiruzen watched the scene unfold with a satisfied smile. "These two… they'll be forces to reckon with in the future."

Minato nodded. "Shisui's technique is still in its infancy, but his potential is limitless."

As the arena began to clear, Shisui steadied himself against the railing, turning to Obito and Rin. "Senior Obito… it's your turn now."

Obito gave a thumbs-up, his characteristic grin returning. "Don't worry, Shisui. I'll handle this!"

From across the field, a young man with a senbon dangling lazily from his mouth straightened, his previously nonchalant demeanor sharpening.

"The final match: Uchiha Obito vs. Shiranui Genma!"
