Chapter Three

After getting ready, Ava drags herself to work. The walk might have been a little too much for her. Next time she will do five miles instead of seven. Her feet are killing her.

As soon as she walks into her top-floor office. It is the second biggest one in the building. You see, Ava works with many large corporations but the one who helped her start it all means the most. Mama Abdula is a billionaire mixed with a load of sass. Oh, and let's not forget she loves to match people like it's a game of Apple's to Apple's. She has been trying to set up her grandson with Ava for so many years. Ava always respectfully halts Abdula and her matching game. Before when she had a husband, she would still try to set her up. Abdula knew she wasn't happy in her relationship. Around this period, her grandson was going through one hell of an engagement. She wouldn't give back the ring, and the car oh and let's not forget his wallet. Ava froze the accounts and tried getting Abdula's grandson to press charges. He didn't so, Ava never got to meet him. Staying behind the scenes keeps her safe.

Becky hands her coffee and warns her, "There is a very important person in the waiting area. He is really attractive, but he is on the V.I.P. list. Abdula sent him." Ava sighs as Becky explains this.

"Of course she did, I bet it's her grandson." Ava starts confidently walking over to the secluded waiting area. This might be her boss, so she needs to give her an A-game.

"Wait! Breath check? Smile check? Outfit check? Oh, no you can't wear those stupid flats here take these." Ava rolls her eyes as Becky goes through her list of things. Becky is a perfectionist. Which was an unwritten rule in her job requirements.

"You go in there first to see what he wants, so I know and can prepare." Becky runs her hands through her hair grabs a fresh cup of coffee and strides into the waiting area. Ava stands by the door listening in.

"So, Mr.Guard before my boss can assist you I'd like to know the situation." Ava can hear very little movement, but then the man speaks.

"I have two matters that need to be taken care of. One I am looking for a girl." Becky laughs.

"Aren't all straight men?" Ava has feelings about this man, all of them could be bad.

"Well, you see. I gave her my number, but she didn't give me hers. She took off before I could have my driver drive her home. We had a magical night." Ava starts to freak out, she slept with the owner of the building and her client. Out of all the billions of men out there, a V.I.P., Abdula's grandson has ravished the hell out of her.

Oh, shit. He's looking for me! It was for one night! I think I am going to be sick. He can't have me.

Ava is shaking, her palms are all sweaty.

"Could you describe her?" Becky asks. She has a private investigation certification, which she got online. Becky is the person you go to if you need a thorough background check.

"Tall, blonde, her hair is like gold, but it looks like silk. Her eyes are so many different colors. They change, in a dimly lit room they are teal. At night under the stars they are blue and this morning when she left they were mostly light blue with specs of green. She has a figure like yours, except her breasts are a little bit bigger." Becky laughs a little.

"If I didn't know any better I would think you were talking about my boss."

Oh hell no, don't rat me out. Ava is freaking out, now.

"This girl was young. Like twenty-three maybe twenty-four." Becky clears her throat.

I am twenty-six and I don't know if I should be offended, he thinks I am old. He also calls me twenty-three, so I am flattered.

Ava thinks to herself, trying to calm her mind.

"Mystery girl, check. What is the other matter?" Ava can hear Mr. Guard stand up from the leather chair.

"An ex of mine had a child a few years back, she came to me a few weeks ago claiming it's mine. The kid is too young to be mine. He is three and his mother and I haven't been together in any way since 2012, it's 2019 so that means he was conceived in 2016. We weren't even in the same state. But if she goes to the media, I will lose millions of dollars in contracts. We can't have bad press." He sounds so sad and lonely. Ava gets it, it is hard always being in the view of the public. That's why he has his safe house no one knows of. It's his great escape from this hell hole we call earth. She'd need one-to if she was in the public eye. The public puts people under a microscope and they feed off failure. People sit waiting for the next scandal. They try to tear people down to show people 'the real' or 'the tea' when all they are doing is allegedly spreading stuff. The media takes down the good people, but it also cuts down the bad.

"Well, let me go speak with my boss on this matter. You are V.I.P Ms. Williow already has a very busy schedule." Bear decides to walk through the dog door and into the waiting room. He then decides to try and play with Mr. Guard. He laughs at the pup, scooping him up.

"Aren't you a cutie," Ava smiles at the fact he likes her dog. She frowns at the fact he gave her a fake name. She can't just play dumb now that she knows it.

"Hey, Ms. Franklin do you know if girls like dogs like this?" Becky laughs as he continues to rub Bear.

"Mr. Guard, please let's drop the formalities. I am Becky." Ava wants to know his name, his real name. She never really paid attention when Abdula would bring him up.

"Then you can call me Seth." His voice sends tingles down Ava's back. Seth smiles as he pets Bear.

Bear is slowly drifting off due to how long and soft Seth's hands are, Bear and Ava can't resist his touch. Ava quickly runs to her office. She dials Becky.

"Get in here now!" Becky excuses herself and runs to Ava.

"What's wrong?" Becky asks.

"He's looking for me. We slept together last night. Ask him if he called her goldie because of her gown?" Becky looks at her shocked.

"He seems head over heels for you. He also loves bears. You should see how cute they are together." Ava smiles at her blushing.

"Tell him I have to go meet a client." Ava takes the morning-after pill with a swig of water.

"He can come in, next week. Or maybe, tomorrow, but there is no way in hell I am meeting him today. I have already seen enough of him today." Becky blushes, knowing now her boss knows what is hidden under that suit.

"I bet he's big," Becky laughs and Ava blushes again.

"Oh God yes, he also knows how to use it correctly. He made me come first. We couldn't get enough of each other." Ava admits a wave of panic washes over her.

There is a knock on the door and Ava freaks.

What is she supposed to do? Where can she hide?
