Chapter Twenty One

Forty-five minutes of everyone sitting in silence at the police station. Ava turns to look at Seth. Seth's eyes are not as kind as they're usually. They are full of something Ava never meant to put him through.

The audacity of her ex. She is filing for a permanent restraining order. Or as permanent as she can get. In this society, we live in rich men like her ex can easily get away with shit.

"I am so sorry," Ava says, her throat dry and scratchy. Seth looks up at her and he gets up from the seat, he is sitting across from her.

"What are you sorry for, ma Belle?" He says in a smooth French accent. It sounds so natural...she looks over at his face for a moment.

"If I can't be there for you at your worst, then I can't just have you at your best. We are a team, we both have crazy exes. We can get through this together." He explains running his hands over her hoping she will accept him.

She grabs hold of his hand, but then a nausea runs through her. She quickly gets up to get to a trash can. She kneels right on time.

Seth is quick to hold her hair back and rub his other hand on her back. Throwing up causes Ava to start bawling. Seth just holds her, this is when he realizes he is in love with her. That she is the one, the only woman he sees himself ever being with. He hopes he will in the future get to hold her hair back when she is carrying his child.

Ava has only been in his life, for such a short time. But in that time, he thinks that from the very moment he laid eyes on her. That one day he is going to make her his wife. To be honest, Seth never thought married life was for him. That in the world he lives in he would get used again, instead of true love. Ava is like no other girl in the circle of rich and snooty. Even when she was taking care of Taylor, she never asked for anything and closed down her office for weeks. Seth left Carter in charge, and he is thinking about selling his companies.

It's not his passion anymore. He has always wanted to open a high-profile security company. After years and years of boxing and still to this day wrestling. He fell in love with the underground scene. They were there for him when he lost everything. A lot of them are ex-military and soldiers. Men who have been through war, and trained and fought together. It's kind of like his own family. The leader of the Cave is the father of his best friend. The one he lost at war, Doug loves Seth to death, because if it wasn't for him doing what he did Doug and his wife Suzanne wouldn't have a body to bury. Also, Seth takes Dylan out, their 14-year-old son. To the race tracks, Seth knows he can't replace him. But he always wants to be there for him.

He hopes to have a son one day, one that he can call his own. It's always been a fantasy dream until he found her. She helps him live life normally, she helps him breathe, and he doesn't feel anxiety from her. There may be stress but not as much as running a billion-dollar company. He spent too much of his life in an office. Cutting his hours has been one of the best decisions he has ever made. They spend a lot of time at each other's places. To have a place that is theirs would be nice. He wants that but it might be too soon, but what the hell. Why not?

He has faith that if he finds the right place then she will say yes. He has to do it discreetly and might have to sneak around a lot. She hates surprises. So Seth has to do a lot of online clear browser history research. He might even go on a business trip and bring her. Their relationship is full of endless possibilities.

But after only months of being together, he fears it is too quick. So maybe holding it off is the best. After everything at the police station is handled, they head to Ava's apartment.

"I think it's best if we stay apart tonight. I need some time to myself." Ava says, closing the door and heading to her bed, alone. Seth goes to his place. Both of them go to sleep one worried the other hopelessly in love.

Ava has a plan to break it off with Seth. Memories of her ex flood her mind. She can't be with men. Ava can't trust them. It's been months of them being together, but she thinks she has talked enough sense into this relationship. She hardly knows this man. She doesn't even know his favorite color. She is so confused about why he sticks around. Seth lays there in his huge bed, realizing she hasn't been there since their one-night stand that happened. The fact that marriage ran through his mind makes him smile. He has never wanted to be with someone so much. He just doesn't know why. What draws her to him? The chemistry is there for sure. But they have had very few moments, but there are crazier things he has done.

Ava musters up the courage to do so. She is going to do it tomorrow. When they see each other at the office building.
