Flight Through The Night

Several tense minutes passed as Wu Ling and his companions raced through the night, dashing from boulder to fallen log whenever they could and taking their chances on the bare earth when they had no other choice. They quickly lost track of directions as they fled from the area that seemed to be infested by the burrowing giant moles.

Wu Ling himself felt battered after falling or crashing into trees and rocks while they sped ahead but as long as he was able to keep up with the martial cultivators he told himself that the minor injuries didn't matter.

"Everyone, hold on," he finally said, holding up a hand. "Quietly as you can," he added. Closing his eyes, he strained his ears and worked to block out the sound of his companions labored breathing along with his own pounding heart, listening for any of the squeaking sounds the moles had made when they reached the surface.
