39- Freddy

The kitten seemed hungry, so I bought kitten sachets for him to eat more easily, along with a litter box, sand, scoop, food and water bowls, and a bed for him to rest in.

Dante would definitely kill me, but I couldn't leave the kitten there without helping him. I still had to give him a name, but I'd leave that for later because now I had to give him a thorough cleaning... Seriously, when I say thorough cleaning, it goes from a bath to cleaning his little eyes and nails.

The first bath was never easy, but I managed!

— Congratulations to me! - I celebrated.

I moved on to the second difficult task: drying. It was a struggle, but I confess that after a few scratches, I managed to finish again!

— There you go, little guy, you're clean, not hungry or cold. - I talked to him.

After giving him a bath, I put him to sleep, as he seemed quite tired. I knew he was a male, a "tabby" style, and he was cute.

I heard my phone ringing in the kitchen and rushed to answer. I just picked it up without seeing who it was.

— Hello! - I answered, sounding like I was in a marathon.

— Hey sweetheart! How's your day going? - Dante asked.

— Promise you won't kill me? I have something to tell you. - I said anxiously.

— Go ahead. - Dante said, starting to get anxious on the other end of the line.

— I found a kitten and I'm taking care of him. - I said, closing my eyes and waiting for a scolding.

— Really? What's he like? - Dante asked excitedly.

— You're not going to scold me or get mad at me? - I asked, surprised.

— No, I like animals. Why should I take out my frustrations on you?

— Wow! I'm really surprised.

— And besides, if you wanted a kitten or a puppy, I wouldn't be against it. After all, I want to do what you like too.

— But it's your apartment... I would understand if you freaked out.

— What good would that do? It would just make you sad, and I really don't want that.

— Thank you so much, Dante! You've made my day even better.

— That's great because mine is terrible! It's getting better now that I'm talking to you.

— What happened? - I asked, concerned.

— I discovered a major hole in my friend's company, everything from who's making the transfers to the accomplices involved. I told my friend after gathering evidence, and he fired everyone for "just cause." That was little compared to the punishment they deserved, which was going to jail.

— Wait, I hear sirens in the background of your call... Dante, what really happened? - I asked impatiently (almost desperate).

— Summing up... I had a car accident and n...

— You had what? - I almost freaked out, interrupting him.

— Calm down, sweetheart, it wasn't anything serious. I know you're worried, but their attempt to cut my brakes only led the police to conduct a thorough investigation and they ended up catching the culprits.

— What happened to you? Are you injured?

— Yes, as I realized the car wasn't braking, instead of going on a road with traffic lights, I decided to crash into the wall of a parking lot. That way I didn't hurt anyone, but at the same time, the airbag deployed and hit my head hard, causing a concussion. Besides, I'm really sore.

— Which city are you in? I want to come there and take care of you.

— You don't need to, sweetheart, I'll be discharged tomorrow.

— Wait, but how?

— The accident happened three days ago.

— I want to kill you! How didn't you tell me earlier? I could have been there with you on the first day. - I said, annoyed.

— Love! I'll be home tomorrow. I didn't want to worry you, and I was also waiting for the results of various tests and the doctor's opinion on whether it was serious or not.

— Love? - I repeated and started to cry just thinking about the possibility of losing him.

— Don't cry, love! Now that I managed to bring you closer to me, it won't be that easy to get rid of you. I haven't even started enjoying you yet.

— Even if you're against it, tomorrow the kitten and I will pick you up at the airport! - I said, not leaving room for objections.

— I would love that! Speaking of which, have you chosen a name for the kitten?

— Not yet. I know it's a male and he's a black and white "tabby."

— Let me think...

Dante thought for a few seconds before suggesting...

— How about Freddy?

— Interesting, I like the name.

— Sweetheart, I'll hang up because I need to rest to endure the flight. I can't bear the longing anymore.

— Okay, what's the flight time for tomorrow?

— I'll be there around 5 in the evening. Is that okay for you?

— Yes, I'll be there to pick you up.

— I'll be waiting for you! I love you. - After speaking, he hung up the call.

— I didn't even have time to say... - I said, somewhat sad.

I finished what I needed to do that day, took a shower, brushed my teeth, and went to bed because I couldn't stand the longing and anxiety anymore.

I woke up with a wonderful feeling that I would see my love today. I managed to finish everything ahead of schedule to pick him up. I started his car, got Freddy, who was wearing a little light blue outfit with colorful designs, and we went to pick up Dante at the airport. When we arrived, we saw that the flight was delayed. We sat and waited for 40 minutes until Dante's flight finally arrived at the airport. I went to the arrivals hall to wait for him.

I was super nervous because Dante hadn't shown up yet and almost everyone had already disembarked. I stood there looking for him and didn't even notice when he arrived by my side.

— Sweetheart, who are you looking for? - He said, indicating that he was here to help.

— Dante! What a scare... - I turned around and hugged him.

— Now that's the way I want to be greeted every time. - He said, smiling.

— I'm glad you liked the reception! - I said, smiling.

— Come on, let's go home! - Dante said, and I followed him to the car.
