The Final Betrayal

I didn't know how long we stood there staring at each other but it felt like the world was caving in around me fast.

Ray looked like he was trying hold himself together as his chest rose and fell in uneven breaths.

His hands curled into fists at his sides. His entire body was rigid like he was trying keep himself from exploding.

"I didn't think you two could hurt me worse than you already have," he said shaking his head. "But I was wrong. You never run out of ways, do you?" He continued. His voice was quiet but I felt every word cut like a blade through my skin.

I couldn't say a word, "So this is it?" He continued, his voice was very low.

"You weren't done ruining me the first time, so you had go ahead and do it again?" He asked bitterly.

I flinched, my heart sank deeply.

"Ray, please....."

"No" His voice cut through my words, sounded sharp and filled with something that made my stomach twist painfully. "You don’t get to talk yet, Jess. Not yet." He said sharply.
