Chapter 9 The Power of the Statue

Faced with Dr. Ebert's warning, the beast not only did not retreat, but roared even more angrily. It opened its bloody mouth, revealing its sharp fangs, and the fishy smell rushed to Dr. Ebert's face, as if it wanted to swallow Dr. Ebert in one gulp. It kicked its front limbs hard, and its huge body rushed towards Dr. Ebert like an arrow from a string.

Dr. Ebert secretly groaned in his heart. He was just a scholar with no power. Facing such a ferocious beast, he had no chance of winning at all.

"What should I do? Am I going to watch this young man being eaten by it?" Dr. Ebert was extremely anxious. He desperately wanted to find a way to resolve the crisis in front of him.

He subconsciously clenched the statue in his hand, and the cold touch made him calm down a little.

At this moment, the statue in his hand suddenly became hot, and a powerful energy surged out of the statue and quickly flowed through his body. Dr. Ebert felt that every cell in his body was activated and full of power.

He felt an unprecedented power surging in his body. He seemed to have turned into a giant, full of infinite power and courage.

"Roar!"

Dr. Ebert roared, the sound was like thunder, echoing in the forest, startling countless birds.

The beast was obviously startled by Dr. Ebert's sudden outburst. It was stunned for a moment, stopped attacking, and looked at the thin human in front of it in confusion, wondering why he suddenly became so strong.

Dr. Ebert took the opportunity to rush forward and grabbed the beast's neck. The fur that was as hard as steel in his hands was like soft cotton at this moment. He twisted it hard.

"Crack!"

With a crisp sound, the beast's neck was twisted off by Dr. Ebert. The beast let out a shrill scream, then fell to the ground with a bang, raising a cloud of dust, and never moved again.

Dr. Ebert let go of his hand and looked at the beast lying on the ground, his heart full of surprise and disbelief.

"I... I actually killed it?" Dr. Ebert muttered to himself. He couldn't believe that he had such a powerful force. He was a scholar, but he killed a beast with his bare hands!

He looked down at the statue in his hand. The statue still emitted a faint light, as if silently telling him that all this was not a dream. Dr. Ebert realized that this power was not all the statue gave. He found that he was not only powerful, but also able to understand the language of this world, and even knew the history and culture of this world, including the words said by the old man before, which now clearly appeared in his mind.

"Is it you... Is it you who gave me the power?" Dr. Ebert asked the statue, his tone full of awe and gratitude.

The statue did not answer him, but just quietly emitted light, as if silently guarding him.

Dr. Ebert walked to the young man and found that he was still alive, but just fainted.

He helped the man up and carefully examined his injuries. He found that he had only suffered some skin injuries and was not in danger of life.

Dr. Ebert breathed a sigh of relief. He took out a water bottle from his pocket, fed the man a few sips of water, and then carried him on his back, preparing to find a safe place to rest.
