Fishing

Chapter 114 Fishing As Aleshia was reminiscing over recent events, she began looking for sticks and stones to make a campfire. When she gathered a sufficient amount, she began placing them near the river, arranging the rocks to create a circle, and casually tossing in the sticks she had found. Once she finished all her tasks, she stepped back to admire her work. Feeling satisfied, she ignited the sticks with her lightning magic, as odd as it sounded. Aleshia watched the flame, making sure it wouldn't be snuffed out, and once she was confident in it not going out, she turned to Lucia and asked, "Can you create a barrier to keep animals or intruders away from our campsite?" Lucia nodded and began to create a barrier; sigils and other symbols emanated from her as she worked on it. Meanwhile, Aleshia searched for a flat patch of land where she could settle down to sleep. When Lucia finished creating the barrier, she noticed that Aleshia was already lying on the ground, waiting for sleep to take over. Realizing there was nothing else to do, Lucia hovered above Aleshia and lay down on top of her, offering a small blanket of warmth. Eventually, sleep took over Aleshia, and Lucia noticed her steady breathing. Since Lucia did not need to sleep, she stayed awake, keeping watch for any intruders or animals that might try to attack them. Upon waking up, Aleshia discovered that Lucia had covered her while she slept, and she thanked her for the thoughtful gesture. Just then, an audible rumble came from Aleshia's stomach, breaking the morning's quiet daze and prompting her hunger. Remembering that she was beside a river, she insisted that Lucia help her catch some fish, even though she already had food supplies tucked away in her pouch. An hour later, Aleshia was now accompanied by a basic fishing line with two freshly caught fish at her side, still twitching slightly from the electricity. A short distance away, Lucia had a mountain of fish beside her, which she periodically froze. Aleshia continued to fish despite feeling extremely hungry. Eventually, Lucia approached her, carrying the massive pile of fish through the air. Driven by her grumbling stomach, Aleshia decided to set aside her competitive spirit and embraced the future of food, grabbing the two still-twitching fish at her side. When they returned to the smoldering campfire, Aleshia prodded the flames and reignited them with her lightning. As the fire blazed hotter, she took salt and various spices from the pouch at her side and generously sprinkled them on the fish they had caught. Meanwhile, Lucia searched for additional sticks to feed the fire and some to use as skewers for the fish.
