Rock Crossing

Chapter 116 Rock Crossing Aleshia patted her stomach, full of the fish she ate, and burped to release some of the pressure. The sun was now high in the sky, forecasting sunny and perfect weather for traveling. With her hunger satisfied, Aleshia felt ready to move on from her camp and return to the road. She slowly got to her feet, feeling slight discomfort from all the food in her stomach, and called out to Lucia. "Lucia, I'm ready to leave this camp and explore the road," Aleshia shouted, not entirely sure where Lucia was. Just then, she heard Lucia's voice coming from beyond her sight. "I'll be right with you just a moment."

A few moments later, Lucia returned with more fish preserved in ice. She returned to Aleshia's side, stored them in her pouch, and floated up to perch on her head. With a full stomach, clean clothes, and especially a witch's hat, Aleshia now looked like a respectable person—or at least a witch in training.

After double-checking her appearance in the reflection of the river water, she tried to smile and make a face, but she still couldn't create any expressions aside from her perpetually fixed deadpan expression. She worried that her inability to show emotions might make some people suspicious of her, but after receiving reassurance from Lucia, she decided to let go of her concerns. Aleshia and Lucia were cleaning up the campfire and the surrounding area. Aleshia still attempted to make faces all the while. Eventually, the site looked as good as new, as if no one had ever disturbed the space. The only noticeable difference was that this area was much cleaner and tidied up than the other areas a short distance away. After leaving the site in better condition than when they arrived, they moved on to their next goal: the other side of the river. Aleshia approached the rock crossing, which served as a natural bridge to the other side of the river, and began hopping from rock to rock. Aleshia nearly slipped on one of the rocks, almost falling into the raging river below. Fortunately, Lucia caught her with her magic. After taking a few breaths to regain her composure, Aleshia continued jumping across the remaining rocks. When she successfully reached the other side of the river, She paused to catch her breath and looked around for the footpath she had seen from across the river.
