The Camp Children
Chapter 130 The Camp Children "Your witch hat has a name?" the girl asked, puzzled. "Yes, it does," Aleshia confirmed. "Now, may I ask your name?" "Oh right, my name is Ren. I'm sorry for not introducing myself sooner." "It's alright. So, should we go to the camp you had talked about?" At the mention of the camp, Ren immediately brightened up and took Aleshia's hand, dragging her deeper into the slums. As they went along, the people resting on the side of the road looked half-dead and malnourished, even worse than when Aleshia first met Ren. Some of the slum dwellers glanced up at the two as they passed but quickly looked back down, returning to their own business. Lucia sat atop Aleshia's head, observing the malnourished slum dwellers who watched the two of them from behind. She noticed as two individuals suddenly got up and ran in another direction when Ren and Aleshia crossed a corner. Lucia cast a preemptive protection spell on Aleshia and Ren to ensure their safety. As Aleshia felt the magic, she slightly tensed but continued moving forward as if nothing had happened. As Ren guided Aleshia through a series of twists and turns, they finally arrived at what looked like a rundown house that had seen some repairs. The exterior of the building featured wooden planks with nails jutting out and tarps hanging from the edge of the one-story roof. As Aleshia took it all in, her thoughts were interrupted by a child's shout. "Ren your back!." A few children ran out of the building. Two had long, disheveled hair that stuck out at the ends, while one had roughly cut short hair. Immediately after the children ran out, Ren shouted, "Riley, what did you do with your hair?" The girl named Riley, frightened, backed away a bit but was pushed toward Ren by the other two. With no other choice, she said, "I sold it, Ren. Just look at how many coins we received from it!" Riley dashed back into the rundown house, emerging with a tattered bag filled with jingling coins. When she reached Ren, Riley quickly opened the bag, and a silver coin tumbled out alongside nearly two dozen copper coins. Once again, Riley pleaded, "Look at how many coins we've got!" This time, the other two joined in excitedly. "Yeah, just look at how much we earned from just selling our hair!" Ren shook her head to shake off the anger welling up inside her and turned her attention to Aleshia. With a sad and pleading voice, she asked, "Aleshia, can you heal them immediately, please? I'm really worried about them, especially Riley."
