Chapter 153 Differences
Aleshia nodded in agreement as they entered the room together. Walking up to the mark, Kailey couldn't help but marvel at it. Since Aleshia agreed she could study it, Kailey stepped closer to the mark. While she leaned in for a closer look, she kept her hands behind her back to avoid accidentally touching it.
Having given Kailey time to study it, Aleshia began feeling impatient with her inspection. She asked, "How much longer are you going to take?"
"Just a little longer," Kailey replied, glancing back at Aleshia. After a moment, she added, "Could you come a bit closer? I want to check yours as well."
Aleshia sighed and approached Kailey, exposing her marks for her to see.
"The mark does look like the ones you have," Kailey said. Studying it closer, she noticed something unusual. The mark on the wall displayed only one character, while the marks on Aleshia consisted of several characters.
"Hey Aleshia, isn't it strange that your marks are smaller, but it has more characters? Just look at the one in front of us; it is a large character taking up a section on the wall."
At Kailey's suggestion, Aleshia looked at the wall and then back at her marks, a questioning expression crossing her face. After comparing the two, she realized that Kailey's observation was correct. "Huh, how did I not notice that before?" she mused.
Kailey glanced back and forth between the mark on the wall and Aleshia's three marks, her mind with questions. She wondered what would happen if she touched it. A strong urge to reach out to the mark tugged at her. Without thinking, she extended her hand toward it. Just as Aleshia had explained, when she made contact with the mark, it began to fall to the ground. Then, as if it had a mind of its own, it shot toward her. However, just before it reached her, instead of landing on her skin as she had expected, it veered sharply away and flew toward Aleshia, attaching itself directly to her.
"That's interesting," Kailey remarked, feeling a mix of intrigue and disappointment. As new ideas bubbled in her mind, she grew eager to see the changes the mark had caused. However, before she could investigate it further, she was abruptly stopped.
Aleshia had tightly grabbed Kailey, preventing her from moving. With a dangerous glint in her eyes, she leaned in closer and addressed Kailey directly. "Hey, Kailey, couldn't you have at least warned me before you did that? What if it caused us some harm?"
