A Conversation with Charlie

A few minutes later as Alex lay on his bed waiting, he heard Charlie going downstairs.

'I guess that's enough stalling, I'll take a shower and get ready and then go downstairs, since he's awake then I can just say that I also wake up just as early.' Alex thought as he nodded to himself, pleased with his own genius acting. Only for him to stop two steps later.

'Yeah, Bella knows I sleep until one in the afternoon if I'm left alone. Well, I'll just say that I'm super excited to go to school! Yeah,' Alex continued affirming that he was in the right and his logic was flawless.

Taking himself to the bathroom, Alex started showering so that he could remove some of the dirt and even chips of wood that had been on him from all the testing he had done at night.

A while later after finishing his shower and cleaning his teeth, they actually didn't look like they needed cleaning at all and were even shinier than he had ever seen them before. Alex went to his room, took his backpack that he had just dropped on the floor yesterday, and started heading downstairs.

'As if I'm actually going to study, I've got much more interesting things to test and examine than hearing about how humanity fought itself' A grin appeared on Alex's face as he thought of all the possible supernatural wars that could have happened in this world.

'That would be interesting to learn for sure, I have got to ask Carlisle and Jasper about it.' Alex thought as he remembered what he had read about their past.

And he stopped walking once again from the sudden reminder flashing through his head.

'Or that could have been fanfiction and it actually didn't happen at all' Alex thought with a downtrodden face as he finally arrived downstairs.

Looking around he quickly found Charlie at the dining table, eating some kind of sandwich.

"Good morning dad, you slept well?" Alex said though inside he held back a grimace.

'Even though I have the past memories of this body, my other world ones are still the dominant part of my memories so it's kinda weird to call Charlie my dad. Still, it's better than calling him Charlie, that's straight up disrespectful' Alex thought as he waved his hand at Charlie, who had by now looked up and a small smile had graced the man's face.

"Hey kid, good morning to you too, yeah I slept well. What about you?" Charlie asked Alex and motioned for him to get a seat as he seemed to want to get up and make something for him.

"I slept great, no need to get up and make myself something, I don't like eating when I just wake up, I'll just eat at school lunch," Alex answered as he took a seat in front of Charlie.

The man froze for a moment and then awkwardly nodded as he continued to eat his sandwich.

'Does the guy even have any friends for him to be this awkward? Or is it because I'm his son? I've never had children so I can't understand I guess.' Alex thought as he stared at Charlie whose fingers were twitching a little and overall his body language showed just how awkward of a situation the man thought he was in.

"Do you usually wake up this early Dad? Don't you have until seven am to go to work?" Alex asked, trying to stir up a conversation with the man so he could help him open up a little.

"Ah, yes but I usually go at six am so that I can be ready and help if something were to be needed at the station," Charlie said, this time much more easily and less awkwardly.

'I guess he likes his job a lot huh' Alex thought as a small smile graced his lips.

"That's great, you must really like helping people a lot huh Dad?" Alex asked the man whose eyes seemed to get brighter at the topic of something he liked to do.

"Of course, it's why I'm still doing the job after all. I like being able to help those in need and keep the security of Forks so that everyone can feel safe" Charlie said with a smile on his lips as well as he told Alex about his love for his job and helping people out.

'Must have been hard on him in the original series with all the shit Bella put the man through. I can't imagine how much it must have hurt him to hear Bella talk like she did to him and him being unable to do anything to help at all' Alex thought for a second as he got up and grabbed the steaming kettle and poured himself and charlie a cup of instant coffee.

Turning around he gave one cup to Charlie and kept one to himself and sat down in the same place as before.

'No, he wasn't even aware of what was happening, just that his baby girl was randomly starting to do the bullshit that she did.' Alex's thoughts continued and his frustration at the original series Bella rose just as fast.

"So, uhm do you wake up this early as well?" Charlie asked as he finished his sandwich and took a sip of his coffee.

"I don't usually, I was just excited about today know? This place still feels so new and unknown that it's exciting and so does the school and the people there. All these guys that I could become best friends with and have a great time." Alex answered while he spewed bullshit out of his mouth without his eyes even flickering a little bit.

'Truly, sneaking out in my last life has made me a professional at this' Alex thought to himself.

"Ah, that's great. I hope you make lots of friends and have a great time here in Forks. If anyone bothers you though just tell me and I'll deal with it, alright son?" Charlie replied, a happy look on his face at Alex's answer.

Check out 5 advanced Chapters on P@treon at P@treon.com/WhiteAuthor

Hey guys, WhiteAuthor here and I know the past few chapters have been a bit slow and mostly just Alex thinking and talking with people but I'll be doing this for a bit so that I can flesh out the characters and actually give some meaning to them, rather than just pieces needed there so that the main character could look cool.

Once again thanks for reading this and I hope you enjoyed it <3
