Early Graduation

'Wednesdays are really slow, though I guess it's just because I can't wait for the school classes to end today,' Alex thought as he headed towards the gym professor's office.

The class had yet to start, so it was most likely to find him here.

*Knock* *Knock*

"Come in," the professor's voice was heard as he invited Alex in.

Opening the door, Alex headed inside, the office was small and it seemed pretty similar to the one that Carlisle had though the drawers were made with low quality wood and not glass and the gym professor didnt have a white bed in here.

There was a basket of sorts aswell that held all kinds of sport balls in it aswell that was situatied on the left corner of the room.

"Ah, Alex Swan, son of Chief Swan, right?" The professor asked.

"Thats right, i just wanted to ask if you could free me from todays class because of yesterday and all" Alex answered and asked his own question.

"You seem fine to me young man, nothing looks wrong" The professor said as he furrowed his brows.

'Why do professors have to be the same everywhere you go' Alex thought and then looked the man in the eyes.

Crimson seeped into Alex's iris for but a split second and then it dissepeared as if it was an illusion.

"Ofcourse i understand, ill let you go for today, just make sure to get a nice rest" The professor said as he nodded at Alex.

"Thanks, professor. I'll make sure to get a nice rest," Alex said, heading out of the office and closing the door behind him.

'Next order of business is asking about me graduating early.' Alex thought as he headed to the school's principal office.

The principal wasn't the one Alex was going to talk to.

His secretary would be more than enough.

Walking through the halls, Alex heard the different professors talking inside the classrooms as he passed by them.

Finally, a few minutes later, Alex arrived at the principal office.

Heading inside, the room was divided into two. First when you entered you would see the secretary part where most problems could be solved or simply stuff that didnt need the principals attention.

And at the back was another wooden door behind which was the 'real' principals office and where he was right now.

How did Alex know he was there right now?

'His heart is pumping faster than what a human heart normally beats.' Alex thought that maybe he should tell the secretaries in case of a heart attack.

And then he heard a grunt that he really wished his enhanced hearing hadn't heard and so Alex looked at the door while he tried to get his imagination in check, trying to stop it from creating the scene in his head.

'Lets just get this done with' Alex thought as he gulped and headed closer to the secretary desk where an old woman of what looked to be about fifty years of age sat.

"Hello, id like to ask some questions" Alex said as he tried to get the womans attention.

The woman raised her head quickly, looking surprised for a moment, and then her expression softened as she nodded.

"Ah yes, you can ask any question you want young man, ill try my best to help you out" The old woman said as she nodded towards Alex, urging him to go on.

"I was wondering how the early graduation system works here in Forks," Alex asked.

"Ah, do you want to graduate early?" The old woman asked, once more taken by surprise.

"That's right," Alex answered simply.

The woman stood silent for a split moment and then nodded her head.

"One second, I don't remember it exactly, but there should be a file around here somewhere that tells exactly how it works," The old woman said as she started looking around the drawers behind her desk.

"Allright" Alex said as he waited, putting his hands in his pockets felt weird and disrespectful so he was just left there standing akwardly in the silence while the woman looked through the documents for the early graduation file.

Finally, after what felt like ages, the woman turned around with two files in her hand.

Pushing them towards Alex, she said.

"There are two ways for you to graduate early, one is the traditional early graduation for which you need a certain ammount of credits in classes while the other one is called General Educational Development or GED. You can only apply for a GED if you leave the school program however and it also limits your options if you want ot apply at highly competetive colleges." The woman said as he did a quick summirization of Alex's two options.

Taking the papers in hand, Alex started to read through them carefully and came up to a conclusion quickly.

'Both of them have their benefits and also cons; early graduation gives better benefits but would be harder to achieve in a short time frame, while I could do GED in a week if the entire process goes quickly. GED, however, does give fewer prospects in college or simply in any other higher field of education,' Alex thought as he rubbed his chin.

'Strictly speaking, I really don't need a higher level of education, if any at all. College isn't even obligatory, and with the knowledge I have, simply investing in the stocks and markets I know of the future will allow me to earn enough to live for hundreds of years without working a single minute,' Alex thought as he lifted his head and stared at the old woman.

"Could I possibly take these with me?" Alex asked.

"Of course, they're just copies of the documents, after all," The old secretary said as she nodded her head.

"I see. Thank you once more." Alex thanked her and headed out of the office.
