Chapter 29: Let's stick to the original plan

Shortly after darkness fell, a soft and holy glow suddenly appeared outside Edward's territory, enveloping beautiful figures within its light. These figures, all clad in silver-white armor and wielding long swords ablaze with golden flames, also had pairs of snow-white wings gently flapping behind them.

They were his winged Angels. All forty-five had returned to the territory.

Following the Angel squad, a string of small figures trailed behind. If not for the holy light illuminating the ground, Edward would have been unable to see them.

This was a transport team made up of over three hundred Goblins. Paired in twos, they each carried the body of a wild monster, their voices uniformly chanting as they marched.

The Goblin transport team, following the radiant path of the Angel squad, also successfully returned to the territory and appeared before Edward at once, kneeling to worship their god of faith.

"Rise," Edward said with a gentle smile. In the blink of an eye, the number of Goblin followers under his command had nearly reached four hundred, including over one hundred eighty level three and four Goblin warriors, and several level five and six brave Goblins.

Compared to other Lords on the island, his Goblin troop was indeed a formidable force.

Edward told his Goblin followers, "The firewood has already been piled up over there; you guys handle your own dinner by roasting meat. Without my permission, no Goblin is to leave the territory."

"As you command, great Lord," they responded.

"Praise you, kind and loving god," the Goblins once again knelt on the ground, devoutly thanking their lord of faith for his blessings. At this moment, Edward once again felt a vast amount of faith power converging inside him.

So far, his body had not undergone any changes due to this faith power, but that was unimportant. The role of faith power would be fully realized when he ascended to godhood.

As Virginia used to say, it's about accumulating little by little. The more faith power Edward accumulated now, the easier it would be for him to become a god in the future.

And after becoming a god, the divine power he wielded would also be stronger. Faith power is the foundation of a deity. Success or failure depends on faith...

After the Goblin followers retreated, Edward turned his attention to the Angel squad. Currently, this squad was led by Virginia and Janet, who were the first to be summoned and also had the highest levels among all the Angels.

"Nice."

"You didn't disappoint me."

"Both of you have advanced to level seven."

Edward envied the speed at which Virginia and Janet leveled up. When summoned yesterday, both were at level five. After two days of hunting, they had both reached level seven. Although Edward had also advanced two levels, his was a breakthrough from level zero to two.

This meant that the primal force he gained was far less than what Virginia and Janet had accumulated.

Of course, this was mainly because he hadn't personally participated in hunting the Wild monsters, so he only got a tiny part of the primal force, naturally slowing his leveling speed.

"In the afternoon~"

"The Angel squad was joined by thirty-six dual-winged Angels, which skyrocketed our hunting speed."

"And the primal force I gained also significantly increased."

"The more units a Lord has, the faster the leveling speed, and this is indeed not just talk."

Now, Edward's level had advanced to the late stage of level two. Just like last night, he was close to leveling up again.

Hearing Edward's praise, Virginia and Janet were thrilled. Excitement showed on their delicate, fair faces. For them, receiving Edward's commendation was a great honor. These Angels had two quests in this world.

One quest was to revive the Angel race and plant the banner of the Holy Light faction across the universe. The other quest was to serve Edward, the Lord of Holy Light.

Naturally, Edward's approval and praise were of great significance to them and a driving force in their efforts.

Virginia quickly said, "Lord, now that the Angel squad has significantly expanded, Janet and I are confident that we can conquer the Goblin Tribe tonight."

Conquering the Goblin Tribe was a planned task by the Lord. Now, the Angel squad was fully capable of completing this plan ahead of schedule, without necessarily waiting until tomorrow morning to declare war on the Goblin Tribe.

"No rush."

Edward waved his hand and said, "The Goblin Tribe isn't going anywhere. Attacking tomorrow morning is just as good. Besides, marching at night is prone to accidents."

"And even if we conquer the Goblin Tribe tonight, it would be difficult to transport the captured resources back."

"So, let's stick to the original plan."

"Tomorrow, at the break of dawn, we'll launch an attack on the Goblin Tribe."

"Besides your Angel squad, two hundred Goblin warriors from the Territory will also participate in this Tribe battle. However, their main quest is to transport the captured resources, while the main combat force will still be you."

"Understood, Lord."

Virginia respectfully complied.

She was eager to fulfill Edward's plan. Now, hearing Edward's analysis, she realized she might have been a bit impulsive. Marching at night indeed carried risks.

Even if the Angel squad feared nothing, the accompanying Goblin team would find it difficult to traverse the dark jungle and reach the Goblin Tribe several miles away without casualties.

During this journey, it was inevitable that some Goblin followers would be killed by Wild monsters in ambushes. And such sacrifices were clearly meaningless.

...

"Lord, this is the bounty from this afternoon's hunt."

Virginia didn't forget the most important thing, handing over the spoils to Edward.

Among the spoils, there were no blueprints, no equipment, and no Spirit Grain seeds, only gold coins.

But the number of gold coins made Edward very happy.

There were exactly three hundred seventy-five.

In the Worlds' Floating Isles, professionals are endowed with the ability to discern the number of gold coins at a glance, just as they can see the information of blueprints and equipment.

"Adding the thirty-seven gold coins left over from the previous summoning of Angels..."

"I now have four hundred twelve gold coins."

"In other words, I can summon eight more two-winged Angels."

Edward was delighted and immediately returned to the [Lord's Hall], summoning eight shiny two-winged Angels.

With this, the number of two-winged Angels under his command reached fifty-three.

This was a very terrifying thing.

Once word got out, it would surely shock all the professionals on the island.

"With the Angel squad's size expanded again, we can try hunting at night."

Edward said to Virginia and Janet following him, "But remember, you must be careful. Also, do not stray too far from the Territory, and return immediately if you encounter danger."

"The Territory can protect you."

"At this stage, there will be no Wild monsters coming to invade."

"The hunting time at night should also not be too long; you control that yourselves, and return to the Territory to rest when tired."

"Okay, Lord."

"Rest assured, Lord, we will definitely protect ourselves."

Virginia and Janet spoke in turn.

Then, with a nod from Edward, they led a group of still vigorous Angels out of the Territory and into the dark wilderness.

It wasn't long before the battle erupted.

From within the Territory, Edward could see dazzling sword lights slicing through the night in the darkness.

And they were very close to the Territory, no more than two hundred meters.

This instantly sobered Edward.

He knew there were many Wild monsters at night, but he hadn't expected there to be so many.

Monsters appeared within two hundred meters of his Territory, which was terrifying.

However, this situation had both disadvantages and advantages.

The disadvantage was that there were too many monsters to kill.

And the advantage was also that there were too many monsters to kill.

Whether it was a blessing or a curse would depend on whether the Angel squad could withstand the pressure.
