A New Beginning

Talilia looked at Drelduin with surprise. Why was he talking about heartbreak? He was a womanizer, he had never experienced a heartbreak, then what was he talking about?

"What are you talking about?" asked Talilia.

Suddenly a bulb lit over his big brain. "Eureka! Oh my god! Oh my god! I am a genius," Drelduin shouted.

"What? What?" shouted Talilia and Othorion in unison.

"This is good news. This is amazing news. Why was I getting angry?" he facepalmed.

"Is he out of his mind?" whispered Othorion.

"I don't know," Talilia whispered back.

"You fools, no matter how much you love each other but you are brother and sister of two exes…"

Before Drelduin could complete his sentence, both Talilia and Othorion screamed, "Exes!!!"

"Ahh… you guys know nothing." Drelduin pulled his hair in frustration and excitement.

"Then tell us," again, Talilia and Othorion said simultaneously.

"It was around your age that your brother and your sister fell in love, but they didn't tell anyone well except me," he narrated excitedly.

"What?" they screamed in unison.

"I never saw love like that before."

"Then, what happened?" asked Othorion.

Drelduin became serious with that question. "One day they decided to elope, but your brother abandoned Talindra at the altar without any reason. She ran away to Boucherlow Island after that. After your father retired, she came back on my request. You have no idea how much I had to plead with her."

"But why? Why would he do that? He can never do that, can he?" asked Othorion.

"I… I don't know. But that broke my sweetie's heart," Drelduin said in a sad voice.

"That's why she became SH?" questioned Talilia.

"Don't call her that," she screamed at her and reprimanded her. "She is not stone-hearted. You have no idea what she has been through. No one has ever endured what she endured in her life."

"So what if his brother abandoned her, she has no say in my life. I love him and I will always be with him," said Talilia with determination.

He scoffed at the love birds before him and started laughing loudly. Both Talilia and Othorion were staring at him in bewilderment. "Ha-ha, so cute. You have no idea who your sister is, do you? She kept you under her nose at all times, that's why you ran away from her to study here. In her rivalry she took over my media department to get one up on Baraion, what do you think she can do to you and this fool if you tell her who he is and how he is related to Baraion."

"Can she really?" gulped Talilia. She knew how determined her sister was and what her sister was capable of. She always got her way.

"She snatched a whole department under my nose. She can do anything she puts her mind to," he said to Talilia and then addressed Othorion, "and you think your brother will let you live your life with the sister of the girl he abandoned?"

He gave them food for their thought. "What should we do then?" asked Othorion.

"I have a plan."

"What kind of plan?" inquired Talilia, excited.

"If we can make those exes remember their love, they won't have a problem with your love then."

"What kind of stupid plan is that?" screamed Talilia.

"If you want your love to succeed, you need to play cupid for your brother and sister and do exactly as I say. Will you be able to?"

"I guess we have no other choice but to say yes," said Othorion, defeatedly.

"Good choice, maybe I can right a wrong that happened years ago with your help," said Drelduin sadly.

"Years ago?" asked Talilia.

"Right a wrong?" asked Othorion.

"Leave that. Tell me how this happened?" asked Drelduin, gesturing towards them both.

"You mean our love story?" asked Talilia.

"Yep, your love story…" said Drelduin and waited for both of them to narrate their story.

*****

The driver stopped the car at the gate of the college, the best college in Dainava, VRIK Institute of Education. She opened the door when the driver stopped her, "but ma'am, what will I say to Talindra, ma'am?"

She widened her eyes, pointed her fingers at him, and said, "tell her nothing, do you understand? If you tell her anything, you are fired."

"Yes, yes ma'am. But what about your bodyguards?" inquired the driver, scared.

She smiled sarcastically at him and replied, "If I see any bodyguard on the campus, I will kill you. Got it?" A human girl was threatening a wolf and it was okay. She was the boss, rather, she was the boss's sister.

"Loud and clear ma'am." And the wolf listened to her.

"Good."

She got out of the car, hung her brown leather backpack on her right shoulder, and looked around at the huge campus with gleeful eyes. The car went away. She was finally free. She was an adult now. She was out of the shadow of her elder sister, Talindra Taurak. There was no one around her to keep an eye on her. Not her human bodyguards, nor her werewolf bodyguards. She was over the moon.

All these years she studied on Boucherlow Island and lived with her elder sister. Before she could finish her schooling, her sister uprooted her life and took her to Boucherlow Island along with her. For five years she was living a life in captivity but now she was liberated.

She was free to do anything as she knew her dad would never look after her, he was always too busy with his work, trying to win with Vampires, unlike her sister who was a helicopter parent. She never left her alone, even when she went away on business trips, she would leave a governess at the house for her and many bodyguards as if someone was going to kidnap her. She never understood why.

Finally, she was away from all that. The only downfall was their sworn brother, Alpha Drelduin Finrandir. It was normal for werewolves and humans to live together in a society. All the creatures were out in the open and living harmoniously. No matter how much she loved him, he still was her sister's spy. He did everything Talindra asked him to. It was as if he was not her boss, she was his boss. It was as if, he was not the elder, she was his elder. From childhood, he always did her bidding, no matter how unfair the demand was.
