Chapter forty

The class erupted into whispers. "Oh my gosh, they know each other!" Amy said.

"I think they're kinda cute together," another classmate said.

During the lesson, Alexander subtly passed a note to Alina. She unfolded it, revealing a simple message: "Can you show me around the school after class?"

The girls sitting behind them saw the note and started whispering excitedly. "O.M.G., he's so sweet! I think he just wrote something sweet to her."

Marcus and Evan, sitting across the room, glared in their direction, their faces dark with jealousy.

At lunchtime, Alexander joined Alina and Lizzy at their table. The cafeteria was abuzz with students glancing their way, whispering about how Alexander had chosen to sit with them.

"So, how are you finding the school?" Alina asked, trying to make conversation.

"It's great so far," Alexander replied, his eyes sparkling. "Especially since I already have friends here."
