Chapter fifty seven

Marcus was deeply puzzled; it had been a long time since he had seen Joe in such a state.

"Joe, what is it? You don't look too good," Marcus asked.

Joe paced around the room restlessly before sitting down on the bed. "Marcus, it's all messed up. I don't know what to do."

Marcus felt irritation creeping in. "What is it? You have to tell me what the problem is so I can help you."

Joe took a deep breath. "I think I found my mate."

"What?" Marcus exclaimed. "Even before the dance? So, tell me, who is it?"

"Lizzy," Joe retorted.

"Lizzy? You mean our classmate Lizzy, Alina's Lizzy?" Marcus asked, shocked.

"Yes, that Lizzy. And that's not all—I think she rejected me."

"What do you mean? Did she or did she not? Make it clear so I can understand."

"She did, Marcus. She did." Joe answered weakly, burying his face in his hands.
