Chapter fifty six

On Saturday morning, Alina couldn't contain her excitement about the evening ahead. She was looking forward to wearing the dress Dana had picked out for her and meeting the mysterious person Dana wanted to introduce her to.

She had spent most of the week trying to pry information from her dad, but he seemed as clueless as she was. Trusting Dana was her only option, despite her disappointment that she wouldn't be attending the party with Marcus. The thought of him possibly meeting his mate at the event made her uneasy. She didn't fully understand the mate bond, but she knew one thing for sure: if Marcus were to find his mate, she wanted it to be her.

The day seemed to drag on. Alina idly flipped through the pages of a romance novel, her mind drifting to thoughts of Marcus. She even tried to nap, hoping time would pass more quickly. A sudden ring from her phone jolted her awake. Groggy, she glanced at the caller ID and saw Marcus's name.
