Average

Fen Yichen felt like shit, like someone had touched his treasure without him knowing. It was not a good feeling.

Trying hard to rationalise his brain, he doesn't want to throw in the first punch. It would be bad if he would have evidence of him punching the man.

"Excuse me, can I leave?" The man selling hotdogs asked awkwardly. It felt like he saw a major movie drama unfold before his very eyes. He kept quiet thinking it would be resolved fast, but hearing the police coming he wanted to leave.

Obviously, the hotdog vendor was completely innocent, but he would be an asset to the case as a witness. Fen Yichen can't let him leave.

"I would like you to stay as a witness, don't worry I'll compensate you for your daily wage."

The hotdog vendor's daughter is the same age as Xie Mingze, he felt a bit sorry for him meeting a psychotic man. He agreed, since he would be compensated for the day he doesn't mind.

"Do you think I'm just a statue here? " Annoyed, the man turned his heels to leave the place. The police sounds like trouble.

His actions was predictable, Yichen stopped him and grabbed his shoulders forcing him to sit on the bench.

"I'm sorry, but you can't leave." His mouth was showing a polite smile, but his eyes were dark devoid of any lights.

He stood taller than the man and he give off the intimidating aura.

"This illegal detention!"

"Well, you have no problem talking shit about my boyfriend earlier."

The usual polite, Fen Yichen was ready to him apart. His usual gentleman demeanour was nowhere to be seen. If the law would allow it, he would had killed him long ago.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

This was after the man was caught by the police, the planned to check the cctv at the bus station after this. Now, they are inside a nearby cafe. Mingze felt like he was being interrogated.

"I don't think it was a big deal."

He did think it was a big deal. Xie Mingze just didn't want to tell anyone feeling ashamed, since partially he knew he was at fault for talking to a stranger in the middle of the night.

Originally, Mingze tried to bury the incident in his mind. After a week or so he would had forgotten it. Though he was completely off guard, meeting the man again at the park near his home. He shivered at the thought that maybe he followed him back home.

"This is life and death! What would you do if you get dragged somewhere and killed? It would be to late to tell anyone."

The thought if seeing him hurt was enough to make him crazy.

"I assume it only happens to good looking people. It's not like anyone would try things with me since I'm average."

It's exactly this mindset that nearly caused him harm.

"Crazy people doesn't discrimate against look. Some people even touch animals, do you understand? How could you be careless and think no one would harm you?"

Not mentioning the fact that he was too good-looking. Only the person himself think he is average. If his secret fan club heard him they would immediately send him letters explaining how he was a beauty needed to be protected at all times. Xie Mingze was a head turner, it was only because of Yichen that nobody approach him.

It was like turning on the flashlight in a dark room, trying to conceal the light under a thin handkerchief. The only reason he could live so recklessly is because of Fen Yichen. Maybe that was why he has no sense of danger.

"Then what should I have done?"

"Xie Mingze, you should've ignored a stranger instead of engaging in a conversation."

It was obvious Yichen was angry, since he was calling him by his full name. Knowing that he was is the wrong, he obediently nodded his head.

"Can you not tell my parents? I originally went there to give my dad his food."

Mama Xie would definitely feel guilty that his son got into a dangerous situation because of her, he doesn't want that to happen.

"No, they need to know. You've been too careless this time. I'm afraid you'll do it again when I'm not there."

This is partially another reason why he doesn't want the people around him to know. It would be a tad awkward if his parents became too worried for him.

"Come on, is there any price equivalent to your silence?"

"No."

That was his only answer, before paying the bill. Originally, they only left to jog, then the whole thing blew up and they wasa gone for an extended period of time than intended.

Mingze started to brainstorm what he would say in his defense. For sure, he would get a good scolding from his parents and Fen Yichen would just watch everything unfold. Is it too late to run away from him?

It felt awkward to be scolded at his age.

"Don't think about running away, I'll just find you and then drag you back home with me."

"I'm not even thinking about it, what are you talking about?"

He turned to look at the man walking beside him, it felt like his mind was just read by him. Mingze pretend to be calm while trying to think of ways to get out of the sticky situation.

Thinking hard, he tried to think about things Fen Yichen wanted. Something he wants or like, for example his favorite food, his favorite clothing brand and the likes. Something he could use to bribe him. Then he suddenly stopped walking.

How come nothing comes to mind? Why can't Mingze remember anything about Yichen's preference, not his favourite food nor his favourite color. They have been together since childhood but he can't remember anything about him.

They were always together, but at the same time it turns out the he doesn't know anything about Fen Yichen.
