Something is Fishy

"Alex! Alex! Did you hear that?", a man dressed in suit entered the office room. He rushed in as if he was about to deliver a bad news. He saw Alex watching the news about Argus's wedding.

"Is this what you are talking about?", Alex asked signalling towards the television. He didn't seem to be bothered by the man's concerned and alarming tone.

"Yes, that's what I mean, and why are you so calm about the news?", the man asked.

"How should I react otherwise, Pete?", Argus asked him.

Pete walked closer to Alex and told him that the girl Argus has married is none other than her. However, Alex didn't seemed to be bothered by that fact. He casually responded saying that he doesn't care whoever marries to whoever and kept working on his laptop.

"I am afraid, Alex, but this time you must care about that. It isn't as simple as it looks like", Pete said.

"Elaborate", Alex commanded.

"Do you really think that heartless man fell for a girl who worked in a bar?", Pete put forward the question.

"Who knows? may be that is true", Alex replied.

"No. There's a bigger reason behind all these or else, why would he marry someone when it's not even been a year since his grandpa passed?", Pete questioned.

There was silence in the room as Alex took his time to think about Pete's question. His hands stopped moving and he asked Pete about the property that Argus's grandfather must have left for him.

"I figured out that his grandfather left him all his lifetime's earnings along with multiple shares of some leading companies, but", Pete stopped.

"But?"

"But it's not confirmed that Argus is the new share holder of those companies. I guess the paperwork is not completed yet", Pete completed.

"How come? How long has it been since his grandfather died?", Alex inquired.

"Almost 3 months", he replied.

"3 months and yet he isn't done with transferring all the left wealth to himself? Not possible, Pete. I know him since we were kids. He isn't someone who would delay his wor, especially when it's something this important. He would have done that within a month of his grandfather's death", Alex said and got off his chair.

Pete didn't understand what Alex meant. He asked what could be the relation between Argus's marriage and his grandfather's wealth.

Argus walked towards the television, his eyes on the wedding photos of Argus and Aleena. Pete stood behind him and turned around to ask, "So you think that this wedding has something to do with his grandfather's property?"

"Something? I would say, everything. Put your people on work. Get me all the details of the bill that his grandfather had prepared and the backstory of this fairy-tale like wedding", Argus ordered.

"On it !", Pete left the office room in urgency.

He was the right hand of Alex Gray, who has been with Alex since he wasn't a name in the real estate market. He helped him in all his plans, whether the plans were morally right or not. After Alex gained a status in the business world, he took Pete as his personal assistant and since then he has been his right hand, carrying out all his business and personal plans.

Pete immediately contacted his people and got them to work. One of his people went to the Downtown Club while the other one disguised himself as an intern and entered Mr. Evans office. The one at the Downtown Club hid her identity as a new worker and with little efforts she was able to dig enough information.

The intern had to face some difficulty as Mr. Evans was a man with experience and vigilance. However, he managed to get inside his office and found out the property papers. He quickly clicked photos of the papers and left the office.

The two of them provided all the information they collected to Pete. When Pete learned the truth about the property, he rushed to Alex to tell him something that would be of great interest to him.

"Alex!", Pete entered Alex's office and saw him busy with his works.

"What is it? Just drop the bomb", Alex said with his arms on the armrest, facing Pete.

"Have a look at this yourself", Pete said and handed him his phone.

Alex took a long look of the screen then moved on to other and then other. His eyes widened as he read the first page of the photos. He re-read it. His raised eyebrows and wide eyes said that he was in disbelief of what he was looking at.

"You don't have to read it again and again. It's for real", Pete said.

Alex frowned and thought for a while. Then, he kept the phone on the table and went back to his relaxed position. He said, "What's the point, Pete? He is married and he will definitely inherit all the property".

"That's were the twist lies, Alex", Pete said putting both of his hands on the table.

"Be clear, Pete".

"It's all a show. My informer found out that out of nowhere one evening, Argus came in the Downtown Club and offered her the propasal of getting married. But the girl rejected the offer and then he forcibly took him out of the club. After that she didn't come to work and suddenly one day, the announcement of the two getting married was made", Pete narrated.

"You mean, all we have to do is to proof that their marriage was a mere act to get the property and then, that bastard Argus will not have his grandfather's property", Argus said.

"Exactly! So are we ready for a new mission?", Pete asked, his eyes wide and filled with the spirit to achieve their goal.

"We are", a firm reply by Alex.

Alex picked up the phone from the table and tightened his grip on the phone. He let out a devilish laughter, while reading a specific line of the paper.

"I am coming, Argus", Alex whispered under his breath.

While Pete and Alex are planning to reveal the truth about Argus's and Aleena's wedding, the newly wed have just started their after marriage life.

The sun has set and it started to drizzle. Few drops landed on Aleena's closed eyes and she got up. She was lying on a bench that was in the middle of the garden.

"What must be the time? How long did I sleep?", Aleena thought.

The rain started pouring and she ran inside the mansion. She saw the time in the huge clock that pointed 6: 30 pm. Sofia's mother saw Aleena drenched in rain and asked her if she needed a hot water bath before dinner.

"That would be great, thank you", Aleena replied.

Aleena went upstairs and took a comforting hot shower. That made her feel better. Few moments later, her dinner arrived. She had it and went to bed. All the lights were turned off because she was habituated to sleep in absolute darkness. Before she felt asleep she had a single thought about Argus as he had not arrived yet.

"Anyway, I am not his wife, like real wife", she said to herself and went to sleep.

The night grew darker and the mansion was hauntingly silent. Everyone was fast asleep, when out of nowhere, Aleena heard some footsteps approaching her. She was alarmed by the footsteps and walked off the bed.

Who is it?
