Kyouko POV
"I was a 2nd-year middle school student when I first got to know the Magician Of The Infinite Skyfall.
I was one of the few lucky ones to have been in the peak era of Seiei, and to have witnessed its glorious days.
It is just what Matsubara-Senpai says
"Everything here is a heavy competition."
The road ahead isn't for the faint of heart, nor it is for the coward.
It is reserved for those who are brave enough to shed blood.
While just in middle school, I've experienced many things: Tournaments, events, and even student incidents.
Carved along its history, was the "Dreaming Incident".
A student, with the ability to control everyone's dream wreaked havoc within the school grounds.
Threats were flooding the council table, and these threat letters came from the culprit.
These letters expressed the clear desire for revenge, and the boldness to use the whole school, even the middle school department, as its hostage.
A war waged between those who aren't in agreement with the system.
And with the president's powers, and immense supreme abilities, was able to hold on to that balance, eventually getting the culprit.
That's one of the major incidents here."
I looked at each of their expressions. They look, intrigued, yet terrified.
Is it okay for me to tell them this? Well, there aren't risks in telling them so. It's the reality and something that may come around this year. And the dreaming incident is pretty much known by everyone around.
"Aside from incidents, the whole country also has what you call the Annual Tournament. This will start from each school, and into district levels, and nationals, in some cases, even international. This could reward hefty points, so I suggest each of us join this.
Be wary of one another. Do not trust easily.
Exams are also there. Exams here are hard, so we must all train.
Well, I think I've already denoted everything you all must know."
3RD POV
"W-Wait, that's it?" Takahashi blurted out,
"Yes, it is."
"Oh man, when ya said "this is gon' be long," I was expecting some super long story."
"I already covered everything." Kyouko nonchalantly replied.
The dreaming incident, huh?
"Well, that's the glimpse of what could happen here." Airi said, "That being said, we already saw what our classmates would look like. Personally, I am interested in Aoki Reina."
Airi brought out another notebook and placed it in the middle of the table.
"My experience during our tag battle still bothers me to this day."
Her expression slightly turned serious,
"Has anyone interacted with her before?"
No one answered.
"Alright. Based on my research, she may be an Illusionary magician."
"Truth be told, she isn't an illusionary magician, nor did she cheat during the mock testings." Kyouko intervened in.
Everyone's face turned into confusion.
"T-Then, what did she do back there?" Airi asked, even more baffled than before.
"I have no answer to that," Kyouko replied,
"Is that so...?"
Her confusion was expressed clearly on her face, with her eyebrows frowning. She tried to make sense of what was happening. It's like saying that a confirmed, physically disabled person could run.
"We'll get to know each other more as time passes. For now, just be wary." Kyouko suggested.
"You're right... her aside... Candi is also a good magician."
Kyouko's eyes were serious, as the flashbacks of their mock match flashed in her head.
"Yeah... Both magical and physically wise, she is very strong." Hina added,
"Well, now you know who you shouldn't make an enemy," Haruto said,
"Yes. Then we have... Agatha..." Airi squinted her eyes and tried to read Agatha's full name..." Yeah... Agatha... Mi-Mijalovich..." She stammers,
Kyouko intervened and pronounced her name for her.
"Agatha Mijahlovich Zaitseva."
"Y-Yes... Her... Her magic is very rare... Spatial, was it? Yeah... I researched things about that magic... and the nearest that I've found for a high school student is someone from the U.S. named Amelia Rutherford, the current #1 ranking female magician in the U.S." Airi said, presenting a printed picture from her notebook.
It was a girl with numerous medals hanging from her neck, and many trophies floating around her.
"Spatial magic originated from the Netherlands, originally discovered by its most famous scientist. I believe that it has yet to reach our country." Kyouko replied.
Agatha is a Russian girl. She is from St. Petersburg. Her Mother is Half-Japanese, Half-Russian, while her Father, is a full Russian Man.
Spatial Magic reached Russia, as the scientist responsible for Spatial Magic had debts to the Russian team, so it was the country that prioritized the development of Spatial Magic.
Newly discovered magic comes in the form of "Magic DNA". It would go through intensive and careful testing to make certain that it is "humanly compatible" without altering the biological DNA of a person.
The Magic DNA of a person acts the same as a human DNA, each person with their own, unique magical DNA. And even though people have the same magic aptitude, the formation of their magical DNA is different, hence why some people could alter that aptitude up to a certain level. This difference in the formation sets the limitation of one's magic.
An example would be as such. Both Person A and B have Fire aptitude. Both of them could use their aptitude with precision and skill. However, because of Person A's "better" magical formation, he/she can alter that aptitude and turn the fire element into a moving creature, akin to an animal.
On the other hand, Person B's DNA formation isn't suited for that type of alteration. Instead, he could use fire to heal another person.
"Netherlands... Huh... Then she could be the only one here with Spatial Magic." Airi said,
She rummaged through her notes, containing explanations regarding spatial magic.
However, her notes still lack much vital information about the said aptitude.
"But Agatha-san's spatial magic still flawed? I mean, Aoki-san easily blew her cover off, ain't she? Maybe it isn't that strong," Arata asked, a little doubtful about Agatha's aptitude.
"That's too naive," Ryo replied nonchalantly. "Spatial Magic strength is based on portal making and disruption of space. The probability of her not taking that exam seriously is high." He added,
"He's right. Blindly assuming can break you. It's better to take precautions." Kyouko agreed,
"Ooh, Yeah, my bad, my bad."
He laughed off, feeling a little funnily stupid.
"Other than them... The others seem on the same level.", Airi said, continuing the left-off-topic.
"We'll see next time."
Ryo ended the conversation.
For a few more minutes, they talked about their class as they munched over the delicious foods they ordered.
However, as they were talking, Kyouko received several messages from Ryujin, telling her to come to the office to finish some unfinished paperworks.
There was a different feeling about this. She already finished her paperworks, so what is this paperworks that Ryujin was talking about?
Maybe Ryujin was feeling lazy and didn't want to do his paperworks.
Kyouko denied it at first, however, she eventually gave in to Ryujin's persistence.
In the middle of the conversation, she stood up, and told everyone the reason for her leave, before she turned around and left the cafe.
...
"So, what paperworks are you talking about?" Kyouko asked Ryujin with a cold voice.
They were in the dimly lit office, with Ryujin, locked in the monitor with focus and concentration.
The light coming from the computer was the only light in the dark room.
"Do you remember the Dreaming Incident?" Ryujin asked, his voice serious and isn't his usual laidback self.
Seeing Ryujin's unusual serious self made her slightly nervous.
"I do. What about it?"
"Look at this,"
Kyouko walks behind the computer, leaning forward to take a look.
Far Western Magic Academy faces a severe "Dreaming Accident," estimated to have caused about 1.5M yen of casualties.
"Maybe the incident last year isn't just in our school. It's on a national scale." Ryujin said, his heart beating with fear and nervousness, yet his expression remained straight, but serious.
The Dreaming incident last year.
Two students made that incident possible. One, with sleeping magic, and one, with dreaming magic. Both controlled the bodies of the unconscious students, wreaking havoc in Seiei Academy.
And now, the exact same thing happened to other school.
"Then, that is rather dangerous." Kyouko remarked.
"It's not just the FWMA (Far Western Magic Academy) that's facing casualties. There are also numerous schools in the provincial areas experiencing the same thing. The news stated that the casualties were caused by students. However, those students have no connections to each other whatsoever." Ryujin stated, typing and looking for the news article, before showing it to Kyouko.
"That's why if you've read our group chat, we'll have a meeting alongside teachers, and the School Governor." Ryujin added,
"I haven't yet."
"Well, I've updated you now. In the coming exam, please observe each student carefully." Ryujin's tone was ever-so serious. "Even if one's aptitude isn't related to dreaming, yet is suspicious, keep an eye. The "Dreaming" aptitude used is thought to be surgical or Artificial." He added precaution.
"I will."
Ryujin affirmed and nodded.
It is just as what the previous the previous leader said,
"Magic serves as a medium for people to transgress."
